Treasure: Cure2 x2, Heal, Ether1 x2, 500 GP, Cure3, Life, Charm (claw),
Ether2
To get to the Dark Elf's cave, head north from Toroia to a small chocobo
forest. Here you can catch a black chocobo, which you can use to fly
east to Cave Magnes, where the Dark Elf is. In the cave, any character
with metallic equipment won't be able to act during battle, so re-equip
everyone with nonmetallic stuff. Use Yang and Cid as your attackers,
while Tellah and Cecil keep everyone in good health. A note on the
enemies: when fighting the Panthers, don't use Parry, because if you
do the Panthers will use Bluster and kill that character.
As you continue through the cave you'll find save points on B3 and
B5, so be sure to use Tents here. Right after the second save point
you'll come to the Dark Elf. In the first battle the Dark Elf will
completely demolish you, but don't worry, this is supposed to happen
(don't bother wasting any items in this battle). Edward will then
play his harp, and the Twin Harp will mirror the melody, weakening
the Dark Elf and removing the cave's magnetic field. Before going
back to take another shot at the Dark Elf be sure to re-equip all
of your best equipment (see bosses: Dark Elf).
After you've defeated the Dark Elf, grab the Earth Crystal then head
out. If you've learned Exit then you can use that once you leave the
crystal room. Head back to Toroia and speak with the Clerics once
again. Before leaving you should stop by and talk to Edward again,
and also get the treasure that you couldn't get before (talk to the
guard and tell her you now have permission). The treasure includes:
Cure2 x2, Heal x2, Ether1 x2, Elixir x2, 1000 GP x2, Great Bow, Fire
(arw) x2, Lit (arw), Ice (arw) x2. You should also stock up on any
items that you think you'll need in town before getting back in the
airship, since doing so will take you into the next scene of the game. |
