Biography

Elmyra is a middle-aged woman, struggling to keep up with a teenaged girl who hasn't slowed down since she first met her, at age 7. She lives in what is probably the cleanest area of all of the slums, and has a lovely garden that her adoptive daughter more than likely does the brunt of the work on. She was married, at one time, but unfortunately her husband passed away before he could come back to her. His spirit, however, was on his way back to her, according to her daughter.

Additional Information

Roughly 12 years ago, Elmyra lived alone in her beautiful haven of a garden house, anxiously awaiting the arrival of her husband. He was away for the war in Wutai, and a letter had reached her, saying that he would be home soon. Overjoyed, she went to the Sector 7 station, and waited. He didn't come on that first day, but, not one to lose hope, she kept going day after day, dutifully.

Several days passed, and while she watched several couples, old friends and family members become reunited, she never did get to see her husband. Still determined, she continued to go to the station, but with dampened hopes.

On an evening when the last person on the train left, and the conductor regretfully offered that maybe his leave was cancelled, she noticed a woman not much younger than herself, laying on the steps of the station with a young child in her arms. "Please," begged the woman. "Take care of Aeris. Take care of my child." Feeling a great deal of sympathy, she took Aeris into her arms, just as the woman was dying. The child happily went home with Elmyra, appearing to feel safe and content.

Her husband never did come home, and Aeris, an odd but delightful child, even predicted his death before she received the notice. Elmyra didn't believe her at first, but once she received the notice of his death... she began to realize certain things, about Aeris, and about their lives together.

Elmyra still lives at the home in the slums, and hopes for Aeris to have a safe journey; she knows she can't hold her back. She was also caring for Marlene, until the little girl was kidnaped by Reeve.
