It might be a good idea for you to level up around the area before heading on. The monsters get tougher from here on out. Personally, we suggest Cecil at level 14, and Rydia at level 9 before moving on. Before you do go, make sure you take all the money you got from leveling up and stock up on healing items at the item shop. When you're set to continue, head northeast from the town of Kaipo. You'll reach the Water Cavern in no time.

As soon as you enter, take the bridge north to find a pair of treasure chests. Come back to the entrance and go left along the path and across the bridge. Get the visible treasure chest, then talk to the old man. Before you can tell him of your troubled friend, he requests your assistance. Since you're heading to Damcyan anyway, Cecil accepts the old man's request and as a result, he joins your party. Welcome to the group, Tellah. It certainly doesn't hurt having another spell caster in your party, especially not in this cave.

One thing that you'll quickly find here is that OBolt1 will become your best friend. Nearly all the enemies are susceptible to the attack. With that in mind, nab the rest of the treasures then book it to the next room. It's pretty easy going through this part of the cavern. Beat the baddies, nab the treasures. All in a day's work for a guy in indigo armor. You'll eventually come across a room with pedestals in a circle and a weird looking insignia in the center of the floor. Get used to this sight, because this is the standard indicator of a save point inside a dungeon. You'll be able to use a tent to restore HP and MP and also save your game file. Take one step in and Tellah will say that it's time to rest up. Don't want to waste one of your tents? Not to worry. Tellah comes prepared.

After the rest, you'll gain control again. Take the opportunity to save your game before moving on. Make your way through the water, up the stairs, and through the door onto the next level. Grab the treasures on the path to the right, then through the door to the left. You'll eventually come to second section of the Water Cavern. The view, as you can see, shows you've come a long way—this was high graphical trickery back in the day, kiddies. Anyway, no reason to turn back now. There's a bunch of visible treasure chests for you to pillage. Boy, whoever left all this wonderful booty here for you sure was nice. Head across the bridge, get the other two chests, and then head onward.

Outside? Take this opportunity to use a tent to heal up, save your game, then head to the next cavern.

Put all caution to the wind and jump down the waterfall. Phew, you survived. How? Well, we don't know. Don't think about it that much, and instead head onward on the path. Make sure you get the two treasure chests at the bottom, for they're important pieces of armor for Cecil. You'll soon see a pair of tentacles by the waterfall. Before entering the water, make sure you are prepared for battle. Then have at it!

OBolt1 is going to be your best friend during this fight. Have Cecil attack normally while Tellah blasts the lights out of him with OBolt1. Rydia will be your jack-of-all-trades. Have her start out by using her OChocb summon, then alternate with OBolt1. If she's low on magic, use an OEther1 on her. You'll notice his tentacles disappear the more damage he takes. You know he's almost sunk when it's just his head and one tentacle. I warn you though, he is a hard hitter. Use aOPotion or OCure1 when needed, and the mammoth shouldn't stand a chance.
