Subjective Analysis
White Mages are physically weak and vulnerable, but their healing powers are quite significant. Healing spells are more effective, if less reliable, than a Chemist's potions, meaning that you'll be likely to sign up for one or the other as a primary or secondary ability set for most of the game. Their powerful Holy spell and the fact that their curative magic damages the undead makes them an offensive asset as well in a few battles.
The White Mage has many useful spells, the most notable being Cure, Curaga, Arise, Esuna, and Holy. Holy is incredibly powerful and quite cheap for such a great spell. Their other abilities are mostly worthless, but Arcane Defense is quite nice.
