Subjective Analysis

Summoners are quite the mixed bag. Their abilities are incredibly powerful, but most of the higher-level abilities are incredibly expensive and slow, making the Time Mage's support ability Swiftness a necessity. They are probably overall the most vulnerable class in the game with bad speed and HP. However, their spells do have wide area of effect, and they are smart enough to avoid hitting unwanted targets, so they can be used in tight spaces.

ERROR and Faerie are quite nice support summons, making the Summoner a decent if slow healer. Golem works well on the defensive side, absorbing physical attacks for the entire party. As for its offensive spells, consider Titan, Cyclops, Odin if you have Swiftness. It should also be noted that Zodiark, the most powerful summon in the game, can be used by summoners, but only by being hit by it from Elidibus in the the Deep. Halve MP is also a great ability to get for your higher-level magic users.
