17. The Magic Kingdom

Enemies: None
Treasures: HyperEther x2, Elixir, FullEther, MegaElixir

You'll end up in a very snowy area, the Ice Age. Head to the east and you'll soon get to a Skyway, which will send you high into the sky. You'll come across a floating city, Enhasa.

First off, you have an opportunity to earn 90 Tech Points in Enhasa, so grab the characters that need it the most and open some books. First, open the book on the table in the top right (representing water), then the one in the top left (representing wind), then the one on the table near the entrance (representing fire). You'll have to fight 6 Nus at once - make sure you save first. Defeat them, and you'll get 90 Tech Points. The first Nu will also give you a Magic Tab and a Speed Tab.

Also in Enhasa is an alarming child who predicts the death of one of your party members. Move on to the next city, Kajar, via skyways and Land Bridges.

Kajar is very similar to Enhasa - open the books in the order of Water-Wind-Fire, and a doorway will open, revealing a Black Rock. Later in the game, the Black Rock can invoke a Triple Technique between three characters. Also in Enhasa is a hidden Speed Tab that's hard to get. At the top right of the first area, there is a glimmer on top of a cabinet. In order to get it, you must go to the next area through the door and grab it through the wall. The Nu in this area won't talk unless you go to the Zeal Palace and learn the Nu's scratchpoint. Then, return here, and the Nu will give you a Magic Tab.

The string of overly pretentious Ice Agers continues as you enter the Zeal Palace, as a woman claims that this palace is the center of the universe. Walk around and eventually you'll run into the child that predicted your death. He'll be speaking with Schala, who will reveal his name to be Janus. Schala will be called away, and you can talk to Janus. He doesn't talk much. If you speak to the Nu wandering around in the middle of the first section, you can find his "scratch-point", which you can use on a Nu in Kajar to receive a Magic Tab. Head to the middle door, and Schala will use a pendant just like Marle's to activate the door. If you talk to the women nearby, they'll explain that it's made from the Mammon Machine. Head to the Mammon Machine down the left passageway and charge up your pendant. When you return to the door, it will open, allowing you inside.

When you enter, the Queen will have Dalton attack you with his pet, Golem.

Strategy
There are many different ways to approaching these two Twins. Unlike the Golem you fought at the Zeal Palace, you must defeat these twins—Schala and Janus aren't going to rescue you this time. One approach is to give Lucca the ArmorTaban Vest, which raises fire protection, and give your other two party members the ArmorRed Vest and ArmorRed Mail. Thus, the whole party is at least partially protected from fire. Then, have Lucca cast OFire 2 or OFlare over and over again until they're defeated. You can do the same thing with the other elements as long as you have the corresponding armor. Giving Lucca the accessory that lowers MP cost by 75%, the Gold Stud, is also recommended.

Afterwards, the Queen will trap you in a triangle of light. Schala will rescue you, but the Prophet will send you back to the Prehistoric age and force Schala to seal the portal shut.

Now, hold on a minute. That door looked awfully familiar, didn't it? That's because it's from the future - you can now activate all of the Sealed Doors as well as the Sealed Chests from various dungeons and buildings. A full list of these doors and chests, as well as methods used to get the most out of them, can be found here.

You may be wondering about Guardia Castle in 1000 A.D., but you can return there if you enter with Marle in your party.

Once there, the Chancellor explains that the King did nothing when the Queen passed away, and Marle gets extremely angry. If you go up and talk to the King, Marle will accuse him of killing her mother, and they will disavow their family. But, all you're here for right now are the treasures, so open the Sealed Chest and grab the excellent healing items and leave.

The Seal seems to have some direct link to the future, so head to the future and go to the Sewer Access that you passed up last time.
