Hunting Grounds

Guide by  Rangers51
CoN Webmaster

Once you arrive back in Prehistory, you might find that your hard-earned gold is of limited utility. To upgrade your equipment, by and large, you're going to need to do some hardcore bartering with the trader in Ioka. The trader accepts four different items in various combinations, but without a guide you're going to be left guessing as to what combinations result in which items. Lucky for you, of course, we have a guide somewhere on this very page.

Trading Items

First, note that the item selection changes several times throughout the game; with that in mind, here are the items you can pick up:

Hunting Enemies

Now that you know what you need to get, well, what you need, there's the matter of getting it; this is where the Hunting Range itself comes into play. Many enemies in this era drop or charm these items, but the Hunting Range is the best way to get a lot of the items quickly. When you're in the hunting range, you can see a few different groups of monsters, outlined below, that will drop or charm various combinations of these tradable items.

Note: These Nus have a special kind of dropped item: they drop three of each tradable item with every victory, and the first time you beat one you'll also get a Third Eye. You can only find these guys when it's raining in the hunting grounds, too, and randomly in one of the three locations marked on the map below. You can find and beat all three if you are patient, but after that you'll have to leave and re-enter the map to get more.
