Subjective Analysis
Knights are one of the most powerful classes in the game. They have high HP and AT, and can equip heavy armor. They can also equip robes and have decent MP and MA for a front-line unit, making magic an excellent early secondary ability set for the Knight. Later in the game Knight Swords, the most powerful weapons in the game, become available, and Knights are the only standard class that can use them.
The Knight's ability set is quite valuable. It has its best results when equipped as a secondary ability for a class that has a greater range, like the Archer or Chemist. Rend Weapon is the best, and Rend Speed can prove very useful as well when trying to steal valuable items instead of breaking them; if you can afford the time, successfully Rend Speeding can render even the biggest bosses virtually hapless. Parry is lackluster, but Equip Heavy Armor is definitely worth picking up, as it can make a passable tank of just about any other job class, particularly the Ninja or Chemist.
