Biography

Freya is one of the eight main playable characters of Final Fantasy IX. Freya is a rat-like creature from Burmecia, a town of endless rain. Freya is a serious character with little patience for Zidane's inanity, but she gets along well with other members of the party, who generally take things as seriously as she does. Freya is a hunter by nature and is trained as a Dragon Knight, which allows her to help the group out. She initially meets up with the team when they return to the city of Lindblum, where she has traveled in hopes of meeting her long-lost love, Fratley, at the city's annual Festival of the Hunt. She joins the group following the events of the festival, which thrust her home city of Burmecia into chaos.

Freya is a hybrid character between both physical and magical attacks. She fights with spears and is able to equip heavy armor and heavy headgear. She is a manageable fighter who comes with two unique commands in battle: Jump and Dragon. Her Jump command takes her out of battle for a turn and deals strong damage when she returns. Her Dragon command gives her access to a variety of skills, including a skill that drains health and magic from an enemy, a skill that casts Regen on the party, and a skill that deals damage based on the number of dragon enemies that the party has defeated throughout the game.

There's more! But you need to turn on spoilers to see it.

Freya Trance

Trance

When Freya enters trance, her red raincoat turns into a full set of platemail, including a helmet that covers her face. Her Jump ability receives a boost in power, attacks all enemies, and keeps her out of reach of the enemy party until her Trance gauge is fully depleted, at which point she will perform one last attack and return to her normal status.
