Biography

Kuja is an effeminate man with grey hair who acts as the main antagonist of Final Fantasy IX. He is elegant and sophisticated - at least he presents himself in this manner through his speech and dress - and prefers to work behind the scenes and manipulate others to get what he wants. Kuja is extremely narcissistic and unemotional, thinking only of ways to advance his own plots. The party first hears Kuja referred to as a weapons dealer for Queen Brahne, and after correctly identifying him as the party behind the Black Mage production, seek out to stop him from harming Gaia any further.

Kuja was actually created by Garland to be his right-hand-man, but after Kuja was deemed a failure and banished from Terra, Kuja went his own way. Knowing his own truth as a person from Terra, Kuja feared losing his own soul if Garland succeeded at combining Gaia and Terra into one planet. As such, Kuja's new goal, which he hoped to accomplish by manipulating Queen Brahne into doing it for him, was to gather the pieces of the summoning crystal for the Eidolon Alexander and use it to stop Garland.

However, during the time in which Zidane's group and Kuja are both in Terra, Kuja learns that stopping the planets from combining won't save him, as he is not immortal. As he deems it unjust that the world continues on after he passes, he makes it his new goal to destroy everything.
