Treasures: HelmetAngel's Tiara, 2 x Megalixir, Lapis, Hi-Potion, ArmorShadowplume Robe, 2x Elixir, BowVenus Bow, Turbo Ether, Hi-Ether, Athenian Water, ArmorRegal Gown

Upon entering, you'll find yourself in a gold and red room with an exit at the bottom and a warp at the top. When you take the warp, you will find yourself in one of eight random areas. Seven of them will be places from the general storyline, with enemies to that match the area, and one area will be new with new treasures and enemies. However, you'll only see five of these areas when passing through each time, so ideally, you'll want the new area to be one of them. It is called Strath, and resembles various mountains from the eras, including Emerald Mountain. This one is far less taxing and far more rewarding for your time.

Assuming you reach Strath, you'll get into a battle with a few imps. Right after the battle, look on the mini-map for what seems to be a dead end down the right side. In fact, it leads to a chest containing the HelmetAngel's Tiara, a very nice female-only helm that grants auto-haste and status immunity. That's the only reason to restart for this area, but it's worth it. The other areas you can pass through include:

After you pass through the five random areas, you'll reach a small cave. On the right is a save point, and on the left is an exit out of the Vortex. Save, heal if you want, but you probably don't need it. Continue up the path into a warp which takes you to the foot of an icy mountain. Looks like Death Peak? I wish it were that simple. The annoying thing about this mountain is that some of the climbing spots are difficult to see, especially when the climb is short. Keep looking at the mini-map, though, and you should be fine. On the way up the mountain, look out for a chest containing a Megalixir, and one which holds a Lapis.

At the start of the next screen, you'll face off against a few Bone Knights, and then climb down on the right to get to a Hi-Potion.

NOTE: At the top of this mountain, a Wonder Rock may occasionally appear. Similar to in the Sanctum, if you see this guy you want to Charm him. You'll have to fight the Bone Knights quite a few times before you're likely to see him, though. At least he’s not a a Pink Puff/Flan Princess, though, right?

Also at the top is a very slippery slope down to a lower area. You'll keep sliding down, so you'll have to choose a direction. Going to the left takes you to the place you want to go first. Immediately down from the entrance to this screen is a ArmorShadowplume Robe, followed shortly after by an Elixir. Climb up the high ledge, and you'll slide back to the first area. From here, go back to the slippery slope of super suck. You'll want the far right exit this time, which takes you to a different part of the area you were at before.

Going to the immediate left takes you to a cave you'll recognise from the Lost Sanctum, in which you can get the BowVenus Bow, a Megalixir and a Turbo Ether. Exit the cave, and drop down to the right to get a Hi-Ether. Instead of climbing up to the ledge again, take the exit to the right. This area is actually quite linear, despite its appearance of openness. Use the mini-map to find your way through, picking up an Athenian Water, a ArmorRegal Gown and an Elixir before exiting from the lower-right corner. This path leads to another portal, which will take you into a cave with a save point. Save and heal before moving onwards.

Marle will have to be in your party for the next part, or she will decide to go regardless of your choice. You will be in a room that resembles the top floor of Guardia Castle, where Marle disappeared at the start of the game. Lo and behold, another Marle is standing before you. Except this one wants you dead.

Strategy
The first of the Vortex bosses. This is a fairly easy boss, despite high HP. Her physical attacks aren't strong, and if you picked up the Blue Vest/Plate, you should equip those to protect against her ice attacks. Attack her physically or with any techs, keeping your health up, and you should be able to deal a lot of damage easily. She has high evasion, though, so you're likely to miss occasionally. About halfway through the fight, she'll start countering every attack physically, and use here Recuperate skill every now and then, restoring 2000-2500 HP. If you keep attacking, though, this should only be a minor setback. With all this in mind, she should go down pretty easily.

After your victory, Marle and Parabdox Marle will merge together, giving the real one a permanent increase in Speed, Accuracy and Stamina. You will then be immediately teleported back to the World Map.
