Before the next battle begins, Ramza and Vormav have a tense meeting. The fact that this is a battle chapter in the walkthrough should help clarify how that meeting is about to go. Ramza tells Vormav to release Alma, but Vormav asks for the stones and the Scriptures in advance. Ramza negotiates, telling him he'll get just the Scriptures, not knowing that the incantation contained inside the Scriptures is actually more dangerous at the moment if left in Vormav's hands. After Rofel gets the Scriptures for Vormav, he glances through it and finds the information that he needs, then Vormav's group attacks to collect the stones anyway.

St. Murond Temple Hall

You don't even need to defeat Vormav specifically, just one of the three enemies coming for you. Holy will do it, but if you're using Orlandu, just send him up and have him use Lightning Stab on Kletian. There's a good chance this will one-shot him, and then all three will run away. It's a very simple battle that shouldn't be difficult at all at this stage of the game. Even without Orlandu, the battle can be quickly managed by targeting Kletian with the bulk of the party. Vormav escapes into the basement, and naturally the pursuit continues.

Equip Armlet108 Gems on everyone possible, and save the game in your secondary (or tertiary!) slot. There's one more battle before the next possible break.
