Biography

Ifalna was the last of the Ancients, the pre-human race that lived in tune with the Earth. She became the subject of the studies of Professor Gast, a Shinra scientist, in his attempts to discover more about the Ancients. The Ancient female and Human male eventually fell in love and decided to disappear so that Ifalna would no longer have to treated as a specimen. Their love produced a child: Aeris.

Professor Hojo, another Shinra scientist, had been searching for Gast and Ifalna and discovered them at the Icicle Lodge in the Northern Continent soon after the child’s birth. Driven by jealousy at Gast’s successes, Hojo attempted to abduct Ifalna and Aeris so that he could conduct experiments on them. Gast tried to protect his family, but was killed while doing so.

This marked the beginning of Ifalna and Aeris’s years of fleeing. The two were able to stay out of Hojo’s clutches for 7 more years. Their luck ran out, however, and Ifalna and Aeris were captured. They were able to escape once again, but Ifalna was mortally wounded in the process. Before dying, Ifalna was able to make it to the Sector 7 Station in Midgar. She used her remaining strength to ask Elmyra to watch over Aeris.
