Hiryu

Biography

Hiryu is a Wind Drake, an endangered species capable of flight and human transport. Lenna and Krile both possess Wind Drakes that have been in the possession of Tycoon and Bal castles, respectively, for generations, and Tycoon's is named Hiryu.

Several years prior to the events of Final Fantasy V, Lenna is devastated by the death of her mother, who could have been saved by consuming a Wind Drake's tongue. Hiryu is rescued from the Northern Mountains by the party after Lenna braves poisonous thorns to obtain some Dragongrass. Much later, in the combined world, Hiryu saves Lenna from being dragged into the Void in Tycoon Castle and then attacks a monster possessing Lenna in the Forest of Moore. Later, the team encounters Hiryu again on the top floor of Phoenix Tower, where the near-dead Hiryu sacrifices itself to become the Phoenix summon.
