Did You Hear There's a Final Fantasy VII Remake? The CoNcast Episode 32

Podcast
Yeah, of course you heard, duh. And you probably heard also that there will be changes coming to the new version, and we're not yet sure what most of them are. So, the CoNcast Team jumped at the chance to do some supposition while we wait for something more visual or playable, and we recorded an episode with our thoughts. Listen now, to be sure you can point out all the ways in which we were wrong later.

Also listen to more talk about Four Job Fiesta, as I played my FJF run and streamed it to Twitch as we recorded. It was a trainwreck.

Three Guys, Four Jobs, One Fiesta: The CoNcast Episode 31

Podcast
Yeah, we know we just published a CoNcast on the topic of Final Fantasy V. So, the fact that we're doing another already might seem weird, right? Well, not really, because this one is very specifically about what is fast becoming a summer tradition in the Final Fantasy community - Four Job Fiesta.

You might have already seen our thread on FJF, as registration is coming right around the corner. You might even want to post in that thread, like, right now, to tell us that you're joining the group of CoN members participating for 2015. Whether you're in or out, though, or if you're not quite sure what's going on with FJF, check out this CoNcast to find out more from some folks who have done it in the past. It's a quick listen, weighing in at about 36 minutes, and it's extra-strange for reasons best left for the listener to hear directly.

Final Fantasy V is Awesome: The CoNcast Episode 30

Podcast
For our thirtieth episode, here's a CoNcast that we've had in the can for far too long. In the vein of our previous recordings, discussing why Final Fantasy VI is awesome and then later the same for Final Fantasy IV, we turn our attention to the third game covered on CoN: Final Fantasy V.

Final Fantasy V is sometimes maligned among the canon of Final Fantasy games, but that's not really fair. There is a great deal of stuff in Final Fantasy V that is done exceedingly well, and we're here to point those things out to you as a public service to those who haven't played it in years or at all. That said, because the consensus around this game isn't as easy to get to than our previous games, you'll get more debate to enjoy this time around as well.

As mentioned, this is an old cast that got repeatedly bumped down the schedule for other things. Ignore any dated references, and Neal's busted mic which he's since fixed!

PAX Eastcast 2015: The CoNcast Episode 29

Podcast
PAX East 2015 sneaked up on me - that's what happens when one buys their pass five months before the actual event. Of course, you have to do that nowadays, because the tickets tend to vanish within the first 12 hours. Once my pass came in the mail, though, I remembered that our first ever CoNcast was about the last time I got to go, in 2013 - we got our group together to preview things that might be there, and things that I should try to seek out while there.

Now it's two years later, and we're doing the same. This time around, there's some added stuff for CoN readers, as Square Enix will have both their standard booth and additionally will be running two panels on Saturday, March 7, the day I'll be there. We'll talk about all those things and more, and we'll have some entertaining anecdota that goes well off-topic.

If you've never tried a CoNcast before, start now - this one is quite short and will give you a good taste for how much you'll adore hearing me speak. And those other guys, I guess.

Square Enix' Glorious PC Future: The CoNcast Episode 28

Podcast
We've covered it in CoN news for quite some time, but Square Enix has been making inroads for quite a while in the Windows space both as a developer and as a massive company who own lots of smaller fish also publishing for PC gamers.

For a long time, the company treated the PC as a bit of a wasteland, at least in terms of the flagship Final Fantasy franchise, with no games released for Windows for many years; now, though, the company is experiencing a renaissance on the platform with the two rereleases of Final Fantasy VII followed closely on by iOS 3D ports and the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy.

So, in this installment, the CoNcast team hits the highs and the lows of Square Enix gaming on the Windows platform as well as what might be coming in the near future. Get your Steam wishlists ready for the Final Fantasy games we'll talk about today!

Mairocrat Holiday Spectacular II: The CoNcast E027

Podcast
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart. And the very next day, you listened to a Christmas CoNcast in which Tiddles and I talked about holiday memories and played mairocrat wii.

With our podcast pace remaining slow, and the holiday season already in full swing (and with Tiddles now in possession of a streaming device hooked up to his Wii U), we decided to give it another try this year, this time running mairocrat 8 and streaming it to Twitch. (What, you didn't know CoN had a sometimes-used Twitch channel?)

Anyway, see below for this cast. It's full of us yelling at our Wiis and sharing the best parts of gaming at the holidays, like unwrapping games on Christmas morning or buying games we'll never play on Steamsale. It's also a nice, compact, exactly-forty-minutes that you can devour on the train or plane as you travel for the holidays. Share your holiday gaming memories with us, too!
