Well, that was fun. Let's now stop and catch our breath and… oh… okay, then.

Inside Riovanes Castle

This battle is tough if you chose to take the last one straight-up instead of buffing Ramza. If you did, though, it will carry over into this battle, and you should be able to defeat Velius in just a few turns with your super strength.

Keep Ramza on top of the freakshow, as he likely was already in close quarters from the last fight, and send in the rest of your party as quickly as possible. If you took a more normal attack strategy last time around, it's likely you'll find significant resistance from Velius and, of course, his new demon pals. Bring along a Summoner and someone who can cast Holy, and bombard him with Lich summons and Holy blasts. Then send your powerful attackers, hopefully with Two Swords from the Ninja class, and attack him over and over again.

Defensively, you will run into trouble right away if the party gets confused. To avoid this, ArmletN-Kai Armlet can be put on everyone, or you can minimize the impact by spreading the party out as quickly as possible so that multiple characters are harder to hit.

You've got to have a little luck in this battle if you haven't broken the framework of the fight in advance. Anything with a Holy element is huge in this battle, so bringing Agrias with Holy Explosion will help a lot too. Address the minion demons only as required; they're nasty, but you can end the battle far more quickly by simply focusing on the big blue guy.

You should consider flipping to another save slot again. While the last battles have been tough, the next one is simply unfair and you can sometimes find yourself seeing a Game Over without even getting a turn.
