Final Fantasy Tactics Walkthrough
At Yardow Fort City, the next battle begins with a girl named Rafa pleading for your help. Her brother, Malak, is there waiting with a trap for Ramza on his way to his meeting with the Shrine Knights. The question is, is the girl part of the trap or trying to evade it herself? Either way, she's fighting on your side for this battle and must be protected.
Yardow Fort City
This battle can be difficult or easy, depending on how your levels are (and what decisions are made by Rafa's AI).
The Summoners can do damage with a wide AoE, but at this point your preferred party is likely tanked up enough to handle it. The best thing you can do here is have a character like Agrias hit all the Ninjas at once, since they seem to pack rather tightly around the chokepoint.
Another strategy is to bring a Monk or two with Earth Slash and hit them all at once if they queue up by the archway. These tactics are particularly useful because the move radius and dual-wield of Ninjas will be your biggest threat in close combat, likely one for which you're not fully prepared as this may be the first time you've seen them as an adversary.
Rafa will be annoying and will try to both fight and run away at the same time, which will generally get her attacked en masse. Make sure you've got someone healing her or you might lose the battle by having her knocked out over the course of a turn, and offer up your stronger party members as more attractive targets by getting them into harm's way quickly (and between the enemy and Rafa so that she retreats further). If you have a character with the ability to do so, you can also confuse the enemy force a bit by getting that unit on top of the wall and flanking to the side.
Malak won't do much in this battle, so save him for last unless he just gets in the way. This battle isn't too tough but it can surprise you if you're not prepared. Bring someone with Raise 2 just in case, and it helps to have a Summoner to launch a big summon at the pesky Ninjas.
After the battle, Rafa will explain her situation to Ramza, describing her upbringing under Barinten after living as an orphan with Malak, her brother. However, Barinten's cruelty finally became unbearable, leading her to escape and run. Her brother now pursues her as well as Ramza, having chosen to believe his liege over his sister.
Malak then appears to deliver a message to Ramza that he is now not only to bring the Scriptures to the castle, but to surrender Rafa back as well.
