Final Fantasy Tactics Walkthrough
New to the War of the Lions translation is a forced battle in the Zeklaus Desert as you attempt to make your way to Riovanes Castle in your pursuit of Alma. You'll be treated to a new cutscene in which a mysterious character is being pursued by three Behemoths in a valley. Ramza takes up chase in attempt to help him out. The man gets cornered against a wall, and everything seems out of reach for him, when all of a sudden Ramza catches up, initiating a battle in which the reward is one of two new guest characters - Luso.
Zeklaus Desert
This battle can be pretty tough, and it isn't helped out by Luso's tendency to thrust himself in the middle of all six of the Behemoths starting from the jump. Make sure that you have a character with the ability to heal - Item secondary with at least
Hi-Potion if not
X-Potion is recommended, since using white magic healing will likely hit some of the Behemoths as well. It's also recommended to bring along an Orator as you won't have the opportunity to Entice a Behemoth to your party for quite some time. Not only will this be good for future poaching opportunities, but it is also a solid way to help level out the battle a little bit.
The three regular Behemoths probably won't pose too much of a threat, and the Behemoth Kings aren't that much more dangerous - it's the Dark Behemoth that is particularly scary here. If you have a Black Mage with Flare, it's definitely worth it to attempt to take it out in one shot from a good range. Jobs that can hit multiple enemies at once indiscriminately like Summoner and Samurai are also highly helpful since the Behemoths will cluster around any of your party members that stick themselves out in the open. Fortunately you do get a full party of five + Luso, so you're not outnumbered, but you have to remember that Luso's death results in a Game Over here.
Once the battle is won, Luso and Ramza formally introduce themselves and you have the opportunity to bring him along as a full-time character. Don't miss this chance, as he's got the same skillset as Squire Ramza, but while in Game Hunter class, he also has an innate auto-Poach when he defeats monsters, which is extremely helpful.
