Final Fantasy Tactics Walkthrough
Underground Book Storage Floor 1
Wiegraf is finally back and is more powerful than ever. After the rout of the Death Corps in chapter one, he's made his way to the Shrine Knights to seek his vengeance on the nobility of Ivalice. He's now a Holy Knight, has access to the same attacks as Agrias, and has the potential to take out your whole party by himself, and starts in a position where he is more likely able to hit your party than you are able to hit him. Typically, though, on his first turn he will expose himself through the chokepoint far enough that you can reach him quickly.
Start off the battle by spacing your party so he can't hit too many characters at once (this works even better if you have a fast character like a Ninja or a Thief along that might go before him, further spacing out your characters). Having at least two tiles between each character is best for this. The quicker you can take him out, the better, as this is another battle where knocking the main target to critical is the true win condition. Focus all your attacks on him, including magic, summons, and regular attacks (Ninjas work especially well here, too, as they can attack twice in one turn). Don't worry too much about healing in this battle because you just want to take him out as quickly as you can. If you are one who likes to collect hidden treasures on the battles, it's worth noting that this is the only time you will be on this map but the treasures are things you can live without.
Don't be surprised if it takes you a couple tries since a significant part of this battle turns on how lucky you are in hitting him, as his evade is high.
Upon victory, Wiegraf will teleport away and Izlude will run away on chocobo-back with Alma, showing that she is actually able to be successfully kidnapped if the enemy are given enough opportunities. Wiegraf is found critically injured, bleeding outside the Monastery as Ramza comes out looking for his sister.
The Holy Stone found in the Monastery begins speaking to Wiegraf, suggesting that the wounded knight to offer himself up to the stone. Ramza, knowing the danger, warns his enemy to ignore the stone, but Wiegraf has only the stone or death from which to choose, and in desperation gives in. After becoming a new Lucavi, he chooses to ignore Ramza and instead leaves, and Simon comes out of hiding to give Ramza the Germonik Scriptures with his last breaths. The scriptures are a book written by a disciple of Saint Ajora, the founder of the holy church. It's a book that the enemies will surely be after, so it's vital that it be kept with Ramza and not lost to the same faction of the church who just slaughtered the entire Monastery just for the stone.
