When you arrive at Goug, Mustadio will go off on his own and the two of you decide to meet at the lowtown later. If you need items and equipment, do that first, as when you take control again at the world map, a battle will begin at Goug if you try to move elsewhere.

Ramza will enter the slums and Mustadio will be brought in, captured by Company. Mustadio tells Ramza that the stone is hidden right near him, and Ramza finds it and gives it to Ludovich, the founder of Baert Company, in exchange for Mustadio's safety. However, Ludovich goes back on his word and the party is attacked.

Goug Lowtown

This battle is stacked against your party in a similar way to when you last saw Summoners in battle. The Summoners make it extremely difficult because it's hard to get over to them without them launching spells at you, and to make things worse, Mustadio is useless in the battle since he'll die right away and won't serve any purpose if revived - as a prisoner, he comes with no equipment and even if you have the Reequip ability on him, he has to stay alive long enough to use it.

Bring along a Chemist for long-distance healing and maybe bring along a Summoner of your own. Summoners can heal big groups of only your party members with Moogle and can do a lot of damage with summons such as Shiva, Ramuh, and Ifrit. Archers of your own can be helpful, and Monks with Shockwave will be a big help because of the range.

The earlier you can take out the summoners, the easier the battle will be, but since they outnumber you six to five once Mustadio's down, it's going to be a fight. After the summoners, pick off each Thief because they can confuse members of the opposite gender, and finally get Archers. If you move up the left side of the battlefield from where you face at the start, you can start the attack early, and move upward from there. Once you have a foothold on the battle, then it's a good time to bring back Mustadio if you want, as that's likely the area in which he fell.

One good thing about this battle taking place in Goug is that you can purchase GunRomandan Pistols there, which have a range of 8. Chemists can equip them and Orators can both equip them and learn the skill Equip Guns, so put those to good use, because their range is amazing and they do fairly good damage.

Once the company thugs have been dealt with, Mustadio and Ramza will rescue Mustadio's father, who has been worried because Ludovich now has the stone. However, Mustadio digs around in his pocket and pulls out a real stone, having given Ludovich a well-made fake. That makes it dangerous for now to stay in Goug for now, though, as they'll no doubt soon discover the ruse.

Mustadio then realizes that he's put Agrias and Ovelia in danger, because the lack of troops arriving from Delacroix means that he likely was actually in league with Ludovich. The party decides to head back to Lionel via ship to Warjilis to rescue them. Mustadio finally joins up as a character that you control, rather than a guest. Don't forget to equip him after that last battle, but you don't need to worry about overdoing it on equipment and supplies as you have no more battles before your next stop at a town.
