It's apparently not too hard to catch up to Delita after all, but there's a twist coming. The formation of the battle changes quickly and you have to dive right in.

Zeirchele Falls

This battle is very easy if you unequip Gaffgarion before starting, because he won't be able to use his sword skills and can hardly do any damage at all. Unequip him fully and you can probably even one-shot him. That makes the battle seven of you against five Knights, and Delita is extremely powerful at this stage - apparently his training has been better than that of his old friend since they last saw each other. He can take out the three Knights that start out by him with little difficulty, leaving only two for the rest of your party to take care of. If you use this tactic, there isn't too much strategy for the battle, just preparation.

Should you have decided not to, or neglected to, weaken Gaffgarion prior to this battle, you'll have little choice but to rush him immediately with as many characters as you can manage. He will escape when reduced to critical HP, but every turn he takes when not pre-crippled will heal him as he will always use his Fell Knight sword abilities with each turn.

Ovelia will take care of herself and isn't in grave danger unless you intentionally stretch the battle to farm treasure or abilities. If you're going to go that route you'll have to take out the guests, and that can tilt the balance of power in the battle away from you.

After the battle, Ramza wants to talk to Delita about what happened, but Delita is focused solely on the task at hand. He claims that Ovelia will be much safer with him, but Agrias, as is her job, strongly disagrees. Delita decides to allow Ramza to keep Ovelia safe for awhile. The group decides to head down to Lionel Castle to ask Cardinal Delacroix for help because as an official of the church, he'll most likely stay neutral between Ramza's goals and those of whatever mysterious group wants Ovelia in their hands.
