Chapter two begins where the prologue left off, with Ramza, Gaffgarion, and Agrias at Orbonne Monastery following Princess Ovelia's abduction. Agrias is going off by herself, but Ramza insists that he wants to accompany her because he knows Delita and wants to find out what's going on. Gaffgarion mentions that it's not the purpose of the contract, but reluctantly agrees to come along. Agrias and Gaffgarion join as guests, and Ladd, Alicia, and Lavian can join up as regular party members. The only place to travel from Orbonne Monastery is Dorter, where a back-alley deal is taking place. A mysterious man is paying off a group of thieves to take care of Ramza's party, and with excellent timing, he now arrives.

Dorter

Ladd, Alicia, and Lavian may seem like good characters to bring along, but instead, assign characters you've already leveled up in chapter one. Make sure, as usual, to have someone that can heal. This battle isn't all that difficult from an offensive perspective because Gaffgarion and Agrias together have incredible sword skills that do awesome damage - the real challenge is keeping all your people from permanently dying. You should have two people who know ItemPhoenix Down and can use them during this battle, as well as people who can use ItemPotion or even ItemHi-Potion. If those same healers also have Auto-Potion, where they will have to worry less about healing themselves, this will go a long way towards keeping everyone healthy. Gaffgarion will take people out and heal himself in the process, so he's safe, but Agrias could be KO'd if your luck is poor. Overall, the most important enemies to worry about are the Black Mages, but they shouldn't do too much damage at this point.

The layout of this map puts your party at a disadvantage, and there's little that you can do at this point to improve your guest characters, so instead focus on keeping the rest of your group capable of covering ground quickly, either via ranged attacks and healing or by enhanced move abilities or equipment.

Afterwards, Agrias realizes that the only place that the kidnappers could have escaped to is Fort Besselat, a place built specifically to keep out intruders. So, of course, that will be your next stop.

Before leaving, though: you should by now be in fine shape financially so adjust your jobs as you wish and restock for those changes as needed.
