I was just wondering if there are any other abilities that can be learned by being hit besides Ultima and Zodiac? If so plz tell me what they are and were I can find them.


With Zodiac you can only learn it on the very bottom floor of the Deep Dark Dungen right, so how do I get Zodiac on my other characters besides the six in that one battle? Do I cast it on them?

There was also another topic specifically on this.

IIRC there's Cure 4, Shell 2, Protect 2, Haste 2, Slow 2, Fire 4, Bolt 4, Ice 4, Cyclops, Zodiac, Ultima and perhaps a few other spells.

Sorry I forgot your other question. You can either have your charmed Summoner (by an enemy) cast Zodiac on you, which will most likely NEVER happen except if it's the only spell your summoner can cast or you can Make an enemy summoner learn Zodiac and get it from it's crystal. IIRC it has a very high chance to get Zodiac in the learning list.

Since summon magic only effects enemys, and not allies, you cant just cast zodiac on one of your characters and have them learn it.

I might make a note here that, In order to learn a spell from another caster, your character must be targeted and effected by the spell.

i.e. You have to take damage from Fire 4 and survive it to learn the spell, (so absorb wont work) and you have to have HP damage to heal in order to learn Cure 4, You cant be immune to slow if you want to learn Slow 2 from another caster ect ect

I learned Zodiac on a male summoner who had no other summon spells, and then i got in random battles in "Bridge" until i found female theives, Stole or broke there Theif hats so i could cast dont move on them, Then had my summoner with Zodiac and no 2ndary ablility move into range for charm, he got charmed and cast Zodiac on my other summoner that was sitting right behind him.

Thats how i learned Zodiac on all my characters.

As for learning black magic this way ect. I found that since the chances of learning the spells arent 100% it was easier to just change all my characters to wizard (with basic skill for accumulate) and just gain the job points manually until the mastered the job, instead of trying to spend the time learning the spells this way.
