It should always work. It only takes me a few tries (If not the first strike of it.) to slay the darn thing. I guess it just differs.

300-400? IIRC, Miracle gives me 500-900 HP, making quite useful for me. Maybe I remember wrong, or maybe, I'm just special. I'll look back into the game. The only Trial I have left is Edge's. I somehow got stuck in that darned castle. I figured it out before to when I was underleveled and messing around. I know I can beat Lunar Ifirit.

You have to complete the game with a character to be able to access their challenge.
Miracle has two stages, by my judging. It either gives 300-400 HP to all, or 700-800 HP to all and Esuna on all. This is just what i have observed though. |

I barely finished the Mist Village bit. So far it was ok. I think the original (HardType Snes) had better music quality. I liked the random battle theme and boss battle, pretty cool stuff:)
The graphics look better, but I found them kinda icka for some odd reason. Maybe it's because of the colors they didn't come out good. Like Cecil's armor, for instance. Before it was violet, now it's light purple. The portraits are degraded from the original (they just look kinda freaky/weird). Finally, an ATB gauge to help you know who will go next and not having to keep track of speed while strategizing. That's an up right there. Though I found difficulty to be a little bit easier than FFIVj Hardtype. But still, quite an alright remake.. I'm looking forward to getting to the Cave of Trials. |

Yeah, the portraits creep out people for some reason. I actually like them, so meh.
Yes, its much easier. I guess they want to go soft on the newer generation or something, but we can expect all the GBA remakes to be like that. (If DoS wasn't a big enough hint, this confirms it.) They better not defile my FFIII though. As for the ATB Gauge, enjoy your free extra turns. -------------------- |

When I first saw the gba version of final fantasy 4 I was shocked becuse my favorite game was now out for my favorite system. Everything was the same except for a few things like character changes but that is fine. I think that the game was a little but too easy though, like I beat the SNES version of it and that was super easy and I beat the gba version and I beat the cave of trials really easily, then beat Zeromus Eg that was pretty easy, I am just working on getting the rare items now that is probably ther hardest thing about the gba version.

I've gone through the Lunar Ruins a few times over now and haven't run into this "Brachioraidos" or whatever. What are the odds of running into it? I've already beaten "he-who-awaits-at-the-end" three times and haven't run into this dragon.

Brachioraidos is a dragon inside a cavern room where an old man says for you to run away if you get in a fight with him. He often flashes and makes himself appear. Never tried fighting him
I bought the GBA version a few weeks ago and playing it so much like a real geek, I managed to beat the Cave of Trials (all weapons taken from there and it was easy) in Mt. Ordeals and only beat Rydia's and Kain's parts in the Lunar Ruins. I liked the new features in ff4a and Square Enix did a good job at it. I still haven't beaten Zeromus EG but I did try to beat him (he looked pretty cool). However many glitches can be found and one of them is when I took my Hovercraft to the Underworld with the Enterprise, I left it there and saved at the Overworld and when I reloaded the game I found the Hovercraft on top of a mountain! So I couldn't ride it until I picked it up and placed it elsewhere. Who knows if the bonus dungeon in FF5a would be in the underwater place a little south of the Mirage forest where there is a boulder that looks like a face?.. Or somewhere I can't remember |

Don't have this game, but I do say it will be something fun to play on my DS lite (besides mariokart)...
Anyways, how about we team up and do an i90east-esque "expert version" of this, eh? I do know a bit about assembly, and this could be quite a fun project =D Anyone dare to post a new topic about it? ps. Hope it's not too too easy, that'll be disappointing -------------------- Adma <3 CoN |

First question: Yes. Why shouldn't you be able to?
Second question: Don't know but I think they will, there's no reason for them not to. |

I don't know much about Nintendo hence the reason I asked those questions. I have only played FFV on PSONE (I depise the accent Faris has on the translation).

I beat FF4 Advance quite a while ago and it's great! Though it got pretty boring after I had beaten the game and the Lunar Ruins.

The DS can play Gameboy Advance games. It can't play Gameboy or Gameboy Color games, if that's what you mean.

I like FF4 Advance, but I wish they'd upped the drop rate of items. -.- Things like Bomb and Goblin still aren't worth the effort needed to get them...

Quote (Jlombardi13 @ 22nd December 2005 15:27) DP, I think you can re-do the trials by using the particular Grimoire you received in battle. Overall, it's a pretty good remake. The translation is much better than preexisting versions, and there have been some graphical improvements. (Cecil's paladin portrait is not an improvement, however. It makes him look like a drag queen.) The auto-dash feature is a nice touch.
It does seem that the GBA version is a little easier than the original hard-type version. This would be consistent with Square Enix's bad habit of watering down remakes. (Look how easy the new FF1 is compared to the NES version.) Part of what makes this game easier is that the Bestiary identifies all the possible dropped items, which is a big secret in the originals. (It also tells you all of the enemies' stats.) One gripe that I have is the bonus features, especially the Lunar Ruins. It is very tedious, and I have little motivation to complete it. First, you have to beat the final dungeon at least three times in order to unlock all of the characters' trials. Then you have to complete the Lunar Dungeon (very long) at least three times to complete all of the trials. And since you've already beaten the game, those extra weapons aren't very useful. (At least the Cave of Trials could be played before the final dungeon.) This post has been edited by Magicite on 14th July 2006 16:05 -------------------- The world before the fall... I got the rom over the weekend and beat it last night(the lunar ruins and all)
Id say it is much better then any other Final fantasy 4 game, simpl because...YOU CAN USE PALOM AND PORUM!!!! Those two kick some serious behind in the end. Palom learns meteor at level 50, and it does 9999 easily. Same thing with his flare. I prefer him over rydia. I mean, what compares to an instant 9999 attack. Even though Rydia has her summons, Palom can deal out the damage quicker and stronger. Porum is about equal with Rosa in magic, but I just use her so I have both of them. Being able to use Yang in the end is sweet too. But my biggest suprise is how much they amped up Cid. He ended up being one of my most powerful physical fighters. And I always thought he sucked. Im not upset over not being able to usse Fusoya or Tellah though, their MP limit always frustrates me. The difficulty was a little too easy. I have a translated ff 4 hardtype rom. And I enjoyed the difficulty somewhat. But the difficulty on this wasnt so horribly easy, like the final fantasy 6 game on snes or ps. And again, the character switch function overrules any dislikes I have. I love the Advance Version! Best game on GBA by far! I did all the new stuff, and it ruled! Plus, it's worth it just for the FF4 game itself, considering the fact it's tough to keep a working SNES. In my opinion FF4 is the 2nd best FF game, second only to FF7. I think this re-make is better than the original because they added a bunch of great new stuff in and only took out the pointless stuff that I didn't miss. Also, I like that the implemented the real-time battle system. It was actually a challenge this time rather than just blowing through the game.

Quote (vincent214 @ 28th July 2006 11:22) It was actually a challenge this time rather than just blowing through the game. ON the contrary, I found this to be pathetically easy. I only got a game over once, even the toughest bosses were pretty easy (evil wall? I killed it without breaking a sweat!), and I managed to make it about halfway through in one sitting. The only hard part, as I've thought in many cases, was the final floors of the lunar ruins. I hate running away from a behemoth, then taking a step and getting into a fight with two of them. Zeromus was a joke in this one, IMO, so I thought it was a little annoying in terms of difficulty. However, the lunar ruins I found tough, and it provided enough replayability, so In general it was pretty good. Oh, and magicite, you only need to beat it twice. Only one twin needs to beat the game to unlock it, but both twins have to be present at the time of the trial. -------------------- Can you pull down the dawn?
