I stopped playing six months ago, after reaching World of Ruin. I've got Edgar, Celes, Locke, Terra and Setzer, but I'm all lost as for the story and what I was doing where I left off, what subplots I was following, what strategies I was planning etc.
What would be the best thing to do, replay the game from the beginning or read a FAQ and try to get back into playing it? |

I would start all over again. Right now, you may be unfamiler with your charaters and the story line. It would be best to start over since it sounds like your not too far into the game.

I suppose ye could start over if ye wanted to get reaquainted with the story, find stuff ye missed in the WOB, or because ye thought FFVI was SUCH an awesome game that ye wanted to experience it all over again, but, really, in terms of what to do next, the WOR was mostly about exploring the world and finding old and new friends, which starting over won't necessarily help ye do. The only thing ye really needed to do to finish the game is get the new airship and after that, it's basically preparing for Kefka's Tower.
So I guess the choice is really up to you. -------------------- |

Personally, i'd go back and start again. There's a lot of stuff that's explained there that would help. But, it's up to you.

Personally i believe it would be a good idea to start again. Since you have played through most of the story already, you would be more inclined to explore a little more and find things you might have not found before.
Then again, I played ffvi right up to the final boss, lost once, stopped playing for a year, picked it up again then beat it... I did the same thing with Legend of Dragoon too, come to think of it... -------------------- Neneko is Neneko because Neneko couldn't be Neneko if Neneko wasn't Neneko! --as quoted from Neneko, Mahoraba {Heartful Days} I can stab a man with a thick paperback book thru the ribcage. |

I made a new game and played for a couple of hours, getting into the old characters and how the systems worked, and now I'm up and running again on my 18h-saving. I've gotten 10 characters.
What would be my main goal now? Exploring for subquests, och just levelling myself up to 99 before the final battle? |

Well, there's plenty more to do in the WoR than just recruiting characters and leveling. Some of the best equipment and relics in the game can be found by completing sidequests (those that do and don't involve finding your party members). For instance, you may wanna wager some items at the Colosseum to get better equipment, find the 'secret' characters, fight the eight dragons, explore the Ancient Castle, stay the night in Doma with Cyan in your party, etc.
I'd recommend looking through the walkthrough here to see what all you can do at this point, 'less you just wanna explore on your own. And as a bit of advice, the best place to level from about lvl. 30-35 and on is the dinosaur forest. It's a patch of forest near the Veldt shaped like a T-rex head. Easy to spot from the airship's view. -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. If anything simply cannot go wrong, it will anyway. I would start all over again too because character later in the game tell you of thing that use to be and you never got to explore them. So, you can remember that information and take a look and see if you can find anything new in the places you haven't been.

I would NOT start over again. Just continue to play, you'll start to remember things. Or ask us questions.
