I rented Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness and have been playing that for the past week. I like the new music and I like how they kept Miror B. around for comic relief. One thing that I don't like so much is how many battles there are. Every few steps someone drops from the ceiling, calls me a kid, and fights. I'm in the shadow Pokemon production place at the moment.

i put down star ocean to start vagrant story, which i immediately fell in love with. i am, unfortunately, stuck in the abandoned mines of lea monde, right after beating the wyvern. i can't beat the goblin leaders who cast magic. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! Currently trying to fight the Data battles in KHIIFM+, and I still need to finish Pokemon Diamond. I think I got discouraged becuase of the Galactic Hideout's teleporter maze. There's always a teleporter maze.

I've currently going through FFV Advance, I wanna see these new jobs!
Other than that I still have my FFXII save I play occasionally and I had a go on the old Metal Gear Substance the other day, great game. -------------------- In the end, it boils down to two simple choices. Either you do or you don't. |

There's always a teleporter maze. ![]() Taking from The Grand List of Console Role Playing Game Cliches, which I know, is console RPGs, but still partially relevant: Quote 9. The Compulsories There's always a fire dungeon, an ice dungeon, a sewer maze, a misty forest, a derelict ghost ship, a mine, a glowing crystal maze, an ancient temple full of traps, a magic floating castle, and a technological dungeon. 10. I turned in my final take-home exam for my last summer school class, so I basically have no more studying to do this summer. Most of my friends are out of town or busy this weekend, so that means handhelds!
I started running through FF III DS, started the extra dungeon on FF V Advance, and now occasionally hijack private viewing rooms in the media library to hook up my underplayed GameCube to replay some Skies of Arcadia: Legends. Edit Some progress: FF III is truly an oldschool game (painfully so, sometimes) in a newschool package. It cleans up FF III's more awkward controls but is quite faithful to many of the game's core mechanics. I only have two crystals thus far, and I *really* want to see the apprentices in action. FF V Advance's endgame stuff is way harder than FF IV Advance's equivalents. I'm getting pasted pretty hard. Skies of Arcadia is still one of the greatest RPGs of all time. I'm going to try for a Legendary swashbuckler rating on this run. This post has been edited by laszlow on 4th August 2007 20:07 -------------------- |

Oh, I'm not worried. Part of what makes the dialogue good is listening to Natalia, Tear, and Jade bash the whiny prick. I figure he'll eventually come around like all RPG anti-heroes do, but right now I'm really enjoying the characters in this game - might be my favorite cast in the series since Phantasia. Awww, Luke's whining is funny. But I guess their bashing is pretty funny too.... I finally got my hands on Tales of the Abyss and I don't think I've put it down yet. It reminds me of Tales of Symphonia, which is a definite good thing. Right now, I'm stopped in the Desert Oasis on my way to Chesedonia. Gynephobia, anyone? I said that almost exactly six months ago, but I guess I still hold the same general opinion. TotA's a great game, and I wasn't kidding when I said that it's my favorite Tales Of cast since Phantasia. I'm still praying for a US localization of the Destiny remake / director's cut. Right now I'm burning through a third (sorta) playthrough of DQ VIII, and keeping my DS warm with Advance Wars Dual Strike and FF V Advance. Edit Yeah, English isn't my strong suit. Bioshock, Bioshock, and more Bioshock.
Seriously, if you have the PC to run this beast, purchase immediately. Or, if you have an XBox 360, do the same. Besides being the spiritual continuation of one of the best series ever (System Shock!!!), it's got a wicked story, immersive environments, cool enemies, perfect sound (good voice acting? yes sir!), and probably the best graphics of any game on the market. And superpowers. Who doesn't love superpowers? -------------------- With the lights out It's less dangerous |

It's awesome, though I don't like how what you have at Job Level 1 is what you have at Job Level 99. ![]() -------------------- FFIVDS looks awesome, right? Especially the character scans. Level-5 is one of those rare companies that simply has never made a bad game. Dark Cloud 2, Dragon Quest VIII, and Rogue Galaxy are three very excellent PS2 games. Quote (Death Penalty @ 29th August 2007 00:56) bioshock looks like a really good game. i noticed several people here are singing its praise. can someone tell me if it has a good storyline to it? It does... in most peoples' opinions, at least. Here's a spoiler-free rundown: It's 1960. The game starts with your plane having crash-landed in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. You're apparently the only survivor, and, oddly, there's a lighthouse out by the wreckage. So, naturally, you swim to it, and find a diving bell that takes you down under the sea while a 40's-style film plays on the wall, talking about the amazing city of Rapture. See, Rapture is the brainchild of a billionaire named Andrew Ryan. It's a city built completely underwater, away from any government, where anyone rich and intelligent enough could come to do their research or investing or what-have-you away from the outside world. Well, it all sounds great until you actually hit the docking bay, and you get to witness a "mutant" rip a person to shreds... then she starts trying to hack her way into your vessel. Apparently, something went wrong. Without going too in-detail, the geniuses down there came up with a way to inject specialized genetic goo into people to let them change their bodies and minds in any way they wanted. This... kinda made everyone go crazy. On the plus-side, you can use their cool injections to give yourself (customizable) super powers, like telekinesis and immolation. Anyways, there are a lot of plot twists, and it really plays out like a huge-budget hollywood blockbuster, minus the suck. And you can kill little girls and harvest their genetic material, which gives it bonus points. Oh, and on-topic: On my second playthrough of Bioshock, going for the "bad" ending. Also playing Peggle (holy crap, download this and try it out), and Icewind Dale 2. -------------------- With the lights out It's less dangerous |
