I'm playing Final Fantasy tactics a2, and it made me want to play FF XII again, too bad the international version lacks english menus, the Zodiac Job System seems pretty good.

For myself, I just finished a playthrough of FF10 and need to finish an open FF8 file next. Then, it's on to Vagrant Story, Mother 3, and Uncharted 1, all for the first time. You definitely should give it a try. It's on pair with Professor Layton and Hotel Dusk, perhaps even better. |

Hilariously, I was looking for a copy of 999 last week when I read so many glowing reviews of it. I couldn't find it, but I did find Ghost Trick, which I played last weekend. It's very short and linear, but I think it's as good as or better than every Phoenix Wright game (same creator). Definitely worth picking up if you like Phoenix Wright or visual adventure games in general.

Chrono Cross and Valkyrie Profile at the moment, and was just shown Braid, which really makes me want to play it...wonder if my garbage-quality computer can support it.

Both fantastic games. I don't know if you've played it before or not, but in Valkyrie be sure to read a guide on how to get the A ending right away. Otherwise it'll be too late and you'll miss out on what is a really well done late-game plot, as opposed to a rather unimpressive B ending. Right now I'm increasingly busy with classes, but I'm rather addicted to minecraft. Dragon Quest VI and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 come out next week, and when those come out I'll be dead to the world for awhile. For now, I'm going to try and get three Platinum trophies for the Sly Cooper Collection. Once you get all three, you get a promotional trailer for Sly 4. I beat the first Sly game ages ago, but never got into the sequels. No time like the present.

I just purchased a used PSP with the intent of emulating EVERY GBA GAME EVAR (not literally, but you get the idea). Unfortunately, I'm finding the process of changing the firmware extremely confusing, and I'm not looking forward to downgrading the firmware to play, say, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town or Sword of Mana, only to end up upgrading it again if I want to play an actual PSP game, thus starting the whole cycle over again.
So I'm currently playing the only PSP game I own - Half-Minute Hero. It's part RPG, part shoot-em-up, part real-time strategy, where levels need to be completed in under 30 seconds. So yes, in the RPG mode, you need to explore, buy items and equipment, find and fight monsters, level up, heal when necessary, solve puzzles, complete sidequests, and kill a boss...all in under thirty seconds, or else the world goes boom. The music is great, the gameplay is unique and fast-paced, the visuals are 8-bit, and the writing's hilarious. (Thank you, Barnes & Noble Wi-Fi, for letting me do some quick research on the aforementioned PSP's web browser before I purchased the game.) I'm planning on borrowing my friend's copies of Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep and Dissidia Final Fantasy, so I have those to look forward to. If anyone has any other suggestions for PSP games, I'm all ears. I'm debating with myself on whether to get the 20th Anniversary Edition of Final Fantasy I. I've already played and beaten the Dawn of Souls version, although the enhanced visuals and music (plus bonus dungeons and superboss) are always neat. But I digress. I've also been playing Final Fantasy VIII, but I honestly don't think I have it in me to finish it. I've wandered around Ultimecia Castle for hours. The Enc-None ability is now my best friend, but I've only been able to beat the first miniboss that holds a sealed command, and I stupidly chose to regain the Save command (having temporarily forgotten that there's a save point right outside the front door), instead of, say, Magic, GF, or Limit Break. (Or Draw, to utilize the oodles and oodles of draw points in the castle.) I've only been able to find a small handful of the other minibosses with sealed commands, but every single one of them wipes the floor with me, since I can only use regular attacks. Way to go, Jim. -------------------- |

I beat the first Sly game ages ago, but never got into the sequels. No time like the present. This ain't happening. Not if Sly 3 is as long and elaborate as Sly 2. I'm really kicking myself for not getting into this series earlier, because Sly 2 is where the games "found themselves." It cuts the item collection of Sly 1 from 700+ clue bottles to 240, and ditches its clumsy platforming with sneak-jumping mechanics to a much more fluid marriage between platforming and stealth. It's also bold, colorful, and hilarious. I beat Sly 1 in less than 7 hours, but Sly 2 is going to take me 15-20. Okay first game, excellent second game. And those Platinum trophies, yeah.... Well, that's another big difference between Sly 1 and Sly 2. Sly 1 requires you to beat the game (check) and collect ALL of the 700+ clue bottles (nope). Sly 2 requires you to beat the game (almost), get about 30 of the clue bottles (check), and buy a few specific upgrades using coins obtained by selling loot and pickpocketing from enemies (check). Guess which I prefer? But yeah, I'll finish Sly 2 and at least get started on Sly 3. I sincerely doubt I'll finish 3 before MvC3 comes out and I lock myself in my house for 10 days. I checked it up and this is all wrong, you do need to unlock Limit Breaks. Oh well, I'd recommend getting them as soon as you've killed your next one, if you do. The stuff below still applies though if you're interested in going back to it. One way out of the problem is to get one or two of your least levelled characters into a team with Squall. The enemy's level will go down drastically and you'll find them a lot easier to beat. Hopefully you'll have Selphie or someone still on level 10 or so. If you're really adventurous, dedicated, and have Eden, go to the Island Closest to Heaven or ICT Hell and use Devour on the monsters to boost Squall's base stats. At the moment I'm not playing many games. I downloaded Angry Birds because so many of my friends have it and I've been periodically playing through it getting three stars on all the levels. I'm on the second world now stuck on a silly level. It's fun anyway. Not too much effort required. Next game I'll play will be FFXII: International. Finally my friend has got a Japanese copy and an English translation patch, and a PC that can emulate it. I've waited for this game for about two years. Still my third favourite FF game, now with a lot more stuff and a better balance overall. Can't wait. It's been a part of my collection for so, so long and I just beat it tonight. That final battle is epic, and super drawn out. Wowzers! I was so confused, though! During the ending cutscene, I kept seeing text popping up and it was all garbled and gibberish, and I thought, "Well, maybe it's the whole 'time compression' thing" Turns out my copy of the game is glitched in some fashion. WTF, right? Haha. Considering I've never played the game to completion, and here it is broken hahaha. Weird. Anyways, YouTube let me follow along. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is the main course, handhelds are the side dish. I am love-love-loving MvC3. Way better than 2.
Finishing up my loooong-delayed playthrough of Crisis Core: FF VII. Totally exceeds my expectations. Quite a good little time-waster. I'm at Nibelheim now, so certain scenes seem... familiar. I'm also stunned at the audio and visual quality for a PSP game. I think that some Dissidia staff may have worked on this game, because the soundtrack uses a lot of the same instrumentation. After this I think I'm going to try Jeanne D'Arc, also on the PSP. I like strategy RPGs, I love Level-5, I think I might like this game. There's also Dragon Quest VI, which I bought last week, but my DS is out on loan so two of my friends can play Ghost Trick ![]() -------------------- |

None of the GameStops I go to have it. I've been taking a break from Birth By Sleep to play Dissidia. I'm on the third chapter of Shade Impulse, and I'm finding it ridicuously difficult. Jeanne D'Arc was pretty good for the 45 minutes I played it, but it was derailed by my receiving my R4i in the mail yesterday. A few patches and ROMs later, I was running this hot ticket and a translated version of Tales of Innocence. Those two and MvC3 will command my attention for a good long while.
