OK, like the topic question asks, what is your favorite type of weapon from FFVI? Why? Click here for a complete listing of FFVI weapons.

I liked the Spears and lances. They were so cool. And besides, they're used by Edgar and Mog. Also, they're fun to draw biggrin.gif

Woo Hoo. It's my first post.

Knives. Cyan's Weapon of choice, and the weapon type of the Tempest. That's some good weapon, right there.

I think I voted wrong...I meant to click Rods and wasn't paying attention. Anyways, RODS! Straight wooden poles that dish out OK damage are very appealing to me. biggrin.gif

I think you accidentally voted "Swords", @Ss@Ss!N. Oops. Oh well. I think that my second fav would be claws probably. But nobody cares, so... who cares!

Never understood why Cyan's weapons were called knives.....It was always my impression that Cyan was a cross between a knight and a samurai, and that he used katanas.

Oh yeah, and the gunblade is the stupidest weapon ever thought of. Nah, I really shoundt say that...instead, the gunblades from FF8 just continue to prove that the game wasnt worth the cd's it was written on.

I vote claws. I tend to like lances better, but I didn't like Mog that much in FFVI, so his weapon falls behind Sabin's. My favorite thing to do in the game is Genji Glove, Offering, Tiger Fangs, and Dragon Claws. I realize that Genji Glove + Offering can be used with any char, and can be better with powerfull swords, but 2 claws always seemed more natural to me. Also...

I like Locke's back row weapons the best, especially the special ones that do massive damage when thrown.

Except for the Boomerang. That thing was crap.

Yes. Yes, you should.

Hehehehe.....

The only thing keeping me from saying that the idea of a gunblade is completely assinine, is the fact that there were actaull gunblades used in the civil war era. Although these were knives attached to the end of a flintlock pistol and, therefore, not really a sword.

I have absolutely no idea how, but perhaps there is a way to make a sword/gun that doesnt look stupid and wont break ANYONE'S wrist when they try to fire.

Ooh man...hard to pick. My top three are Brushes, Claws, and Gambler's Equipment.

I like Brushes because, well, it's Relm. And Relm's an artist (like me!), and being able to control the enemy is one of my favorite things to do in any Final Fantasy game. And even when she's not using the Brush to Paint, I like to amuse myself by imagining the different ways in which she could attack with it, like stabbing the enemy with the sharpened non-brush end, or by flicking paint into the enemy's eyes.

I agree with io_rage about the two Claws thing; I just don't feel like Sabin's doing his job right if he's only wearing one Claw, so he always ends up with the Genji Glove, though Locke does too sometimes. Claws are neeeeeat, and I love some of the status effects that come with some of them, like Poison and Confuse. (Does Sabin have Claws that cast Confuse? I know Yang did...maybe I'm--heh--confusing the two. tongue.gif)

But I think the #1 position is gonna have to go to the Gambler's Equipment. It's just so stylish. Though I'll admit I find Darts and Cards easier to believe than Dice. I mean, if Setzer's throwing Darts, they're sharp and pointy. If he's throwing Cards, maybe he's doing some kind of Gambit thing where he charges them up with energy first, or maybe they're razor-edged. But if he's throwing Dice, where the heck is the damage coming from? Hehe, I want to see him throwing gaming dice, like d4s and d20s. That would make me giggle.

I voted for "Gambler's Equipment" for they were, partly, the reason that Setzer was by far my favorite protagonist in Final Fantasy 6. Watching him go crazy with the fixed dice / offering combo or even adding a genji glove and extra weapon to that combo was always quite a sight to behold (I would always go into Kefka's tower ASAP to get the fixed dice in the WoR).

Without a doubt, the throwing cards, darts, and the fixed dice were the coolest looking weapons. Plus, his slot was always a blast and a half to use.

I go with swords.
Many characters can use sword (but not all and most can use knives...), but it is generally stronger than knife. I do have to admit though, claws and spears/lance are the most powerful weapons >_> (if you ignore illumina and ragnorak).

If someone blocks while their finger is on the trigger with a guard, it could break your whole hand.

So no trigger guard=no broken hand.

I voted swords just because the Atma Weapon. How cool is it to have a sword grow during the game especially back then in a 16-bit world. Other swords like Raganork and Scimatar were sweet too. Lances/Spears were my biggest disappointment as they looked so cheesy when you used them.

So no trigger guard=no broken hand.

Yes, but I was refering to the fact that the "gunblade" is so unweildly and stupidly large that if you tried to fire with it, the recoil would undoubtedly break anyone's wrist, trigger guard or no trigger guard...........that and the force of the discharging bullet would probably shatter the blade of the sword, embedding at least some, if not most of the shrapnel into the users face and body.

At last count, we now have three topics diverging into the physical impossibility or otherwise of the Gunblade and/or Buster Sword. While it is on topic here, if you want to continue that discussion, I'd suggest doing so in the topic Gunblade vs. Buster Sword, after reading it thoroughly first to make sure you're not just going over old ground. That topic deals more specifically with these weapons.

Special! I love throwing things and such. Boomerangs, discs, morning stars etc. I have always been weak against boomerangs as weapons. Who doesn't remember Power Blade from the old NES? Yahoo! cool.gif

On second place I'd pick Claws or Gambler's Equipment. Claws are cool, and those gambler things were funny.

A short note: "Knives" in FFVI aren't actually Knives. They are samurai swords. The things listed as "Dirks" are knives. But since the official name is "knives", there's not much we can do about it. Stupid Ted Woolsy! wacko.gif

Hey well in my opinion, my favorite weapon would have to be the Shekirin, or what ever it is called. Basicly that makes Shadow my favorite character. Oh yeah has anyone seen this extension of FF6, shadow is suppose the be the main character in it. He looks differently too, no ninja armor. Anyways the throwing weapon, shekerin or what ever it is called in real life can be used as a claw weapon if you hold three of them between your fingers. I practice with the real ones I bought off online for 400 dolars each. I haven't yet mastered in alternating from close-range and far-range combat yet. You guys should go and buy your own they are so sweet.

I voted spears and lances, 'cos Edgar and Mog use them. I mean, c'mon. Mog has to be the coolest, hippest grooviest, slickest moogle in the whole game! Plus I like using spears with the Jump command, so Mog's just like Freya from FF9.

Go Mog! cool.gif
