I fought Kefka by using the basic team where half the people heal and half the people battle, so i usually put in two mages with two battlers first then alternate putting in the rest of my people so that i can get mages and fighters equally as i lose fighters and mages.
This is a recently new strategy i have formed as i played the final battle. What about you? What was your team configurations, and what strategies did you use after you set up your parties? -------------------- <DrkMagimaster282> MWAHAHA. I used my standard assault squad- Terra, Mog, Edgar, Gau. Terra used Quick+Ultima (with her Gem Box and Economizer, of course). Mog was my healer. Edgar basically went drill-crazy, and Gau? Poisoned, regenned, and Magic Potted.

Sabin, Edgar, Terra, and then some Imped out char, usually Mog..
I remember when I brought Shadow to the final fight, and the Atma Weapon was not equipped to anyone, and I tried to throw it to see that dialogue box, but it was not in the item list, so I couldn't throw it. It was pretty disappointing. Meh. |

I don't put too much effort in beefing up my squad before the fight because Kefka is so easy anyway. I'll use a group like Gau, Sabin, Cyan and Celes. Everyone knows all spells so it's convenient to heal with any person when Kefka does something like Fallen One. Gau will do Catscratch, Sabin does Bum Rush, Cyan does Quadra Slice or Empowerer when weak, and Celes will attack with the Ragnarok or Illumina. The battle never lasts more than 2 minutes so there's little room for strategy. You just hit him with everything you got and he's dead.

How is it possible that the Atma Weapon-rumor is so bloody persistent? It's not throwable (at least not in Version 1.0), and making it throwable will only get you 9999 damage.
A single Throw attack can never do more then 9999 damage unless there's some kind of special effect written in the Battle Script, and guess what? No such thing in the game, let alone on Kefka. -------------------- |

Mog, Celes, Locke, Shadow. Atma , Zantetsuk on celes. Illumina Gradeas, on locke. Shadow throw, Mog Magic it up or dance. Dead in 5 min tops. kefka was far to easy.

I used Edgar, Terra, Mog, and Gogo. I had Mog cast Hastega/Haste2 on everyone and let Ultime loose on all of the targets, if they ran out of MP, I would have used osmose on a target, pretty simple.

My party usually consists of Shadow with Genji/Offering combo, Locke with Illumina, and two of the following, Sabin, Umaro, Setzer, Mog

My team for fighting Kefka is the team I use throughout most of the game:
Edgar Celes <Someone else, usually Locke> Sabin Edgar is my favourite character, and he always seems to do quite well when teamed up with a Genji Gloved Sabin. Celes is there because I decided once that I wanted a female on my team (I used to use Edgar/Shadow/Cyan/Sabin), and I don't like Terra, so I tried out Celes and now she's my favourite female FF6 character. I have done many play-throughs with Locke as the "someone else," but I decided to try some other people out in my current play-through. I still haven't decided who I'll use... Oh, and equipment, in case anyone cares, is generally this: Edgar Illumina or Atma Weapon Paladin Shld Genji Helmet Genji Armor Marvel Shoes Ribbon Celes Excalibur or Illumina Genji Shld Genji Helmet Minerva Economizer Marvel Shoes Locke Wing Edge (Speed +7!) Wing Edge (Speed +7!) <Don't remember... Something with speed...> <Same here...> Genji Glove Marvel Shoes Sabin Tiger Fangs Tiger Fangs Regal Crown or Red Cap Red Jacket Genji Glove Marvel Shoes That makes for one amazing team. Oh, and as for the how, I just hold A. ![]() This post has been edited by sbq92 on 6th May 2004 16:57 -------------------- --sbq92 <>< |

It doesn't matter who my first 3 people are, as long as they get Terra to Kefka. She's got her Illumina and Excalibur equipped along with the offering and (of course) genji gloves. After morphing, she does 79,992 points of damage in one attack. It's always fun to know that you can kill pretty much anything in the game with one character.

Here's an example of a lineup, off the top of my head (it's been a while since I last creamed Kefka):
(assuming that I left Umaro and Relm on the ship) Edgar Locke Mog Celes Cyan Gogo Shadow Setzer Gau Sabin Strago Terra Basically, their order is the order of how powerful each character is. The first four, though, are planned with their being the first four in mind. I rarely get past #6 or #7, but the point is that in case I do run out of characters, my strongest characters are the final stronghold. I've also heard of a strategy where you put your medium-strong characters at the front, your strongest characters in the middle, and your weakest characters at the end, and I guess that also makes sense. (As you can see, Strago is not only one of my favorite characters, but is also one of my most powerful characters.) One more thing: This post is my 1000th post at the Caves of Narshe! I had Sabin, Celes, Setzer and Edgar. Sabin did attacks mostly but he had learned alot of magic (mostly defensive magic, Cure 3, Life 2, Shell and Safe) Celes healed and used offensive magic alot, with an occasional attack (since she had lower attack power than the rest) Setzer racked up some damage with his Fixed Dice, wih some magic, and Edgar used the same technique as Sabin, magic and physical attacks (mostly tools) I only died on Kefka once, but I died like three times on the other battles before him, but it was a good challenge for me, which is a must in my case

This is tough, being that during the hundreds (possible exaggeration) of times that I've played through this game I had to have used every conceivable group against Kefka, and totally dominated, but I think I can form a pretty good team here based on the people I most use at the end.
#1) Strago. Strago is an invaluable part of this fight; main reason being Big Guard. Big Guard helps lots from begining to end, not to mention that his other Lores are awesome. Raise him to 9,999 HP, keep him healed, and do Pearl Wind every chance you get, or maybe a combination of Quick, Pearl Wind, and Grand Train (or maybe Quick, Pearl Wind, Step Mine against Kefka in his final form). The only downside to him is he'll use up a ton of MP if you use him to his full potential, however just stick an Economizer on him and you're good to go >:o) #2) Terra. Equip her with a Gem Box and Economizer (if you're dilligant, patient, and geeky enough to fight enough Brachiosaurs to end up with multiple Economizers, or if you're just a cheating scumbag - hey like who isn't sometimes?) and you have the ultimate magical force in the game. Morph her (and maybe use a bug to keep her in morph status ^.^) and her magical attack power doubles. Morph, Ultima/Quick, Ultima/Ultima, Ultima/Ultima. What more is there to say? (Besides the fact that she's cute, is a major player in the story and Possible spoilers: highlight to view .. ahem. It's always fun to have her strike the killing blow, or spell. from the very begining when Kefka puts a Slave Crown on her head you wanna see her totally BURN HIM TO ASHES!!! ![]() #3) Celes. I like to use Celes as my secondary physical attacker and backup magic attacker/healer. Her main purpose, however, is defence. Equip her with the Illumina, Force Shield, Mystery Veil, Force Armor, a pair of Marvel Shoes and a Zephyr Cape and you have a being with 159 MBlock% who will basically evade every attack thrown at her. The ultimate test of this was fighting Doom Dragons for more Marvel Shoes in the coluseum with her equipped this way at around level 52, with a constant barrage of Fallen One/S. Cross/normal physical attacks/N. Cross. The only thing that ever hit her was Fallen One; even with her autofighting and casting pointless spells like Remedy on herself (and doing Runic every now and again even though it wasn't as pointless) she had managed to regain up to about 1,500-2,000 HP with the Marvel Shoes' Regen effect before the dragon had used Fallen One again to lower her back to 1 HP (talk about a tense battle, with no control!). Celes ALWAYS came out the victoress, however. She evaded everything that was thrown at her, and managed to attack the dragon enough times to kill it. You ask, "Couldn't you do this with any other character?" Technically yes, I just choose Celes because: • I have her from the begining in the World of Ruin, so she's easy to keep up to speed. • No equipment conflicts, and she naturally has a higher Magic Power/Magic Attack rating making her a better caster/healer. A Runic now and then to get one of Kefka's spells doesn't hurt either. • She's cute ;o) • She fits well into the ending - Possible spoilers: highlight to view She was the one who had stabbed Kefka on the Floating Continent, triggering the final snap of his mind and ultimately leading to his revival of the statues. It only fits that she's one of the people that helps to end his reign. #4) Locke. A wonderous physical attacker when equipped with Genji Glove/Offering and Atma Weapon/Excalibur, if he's powered up enough. Locke also has the ability to steal (and equip) a second Ragnarok and/or a second Atma Weapon, and you just can't beat 8 Atma hits if he's at 9,999 HP :-) Other choices - Shadow comes under Locke. If I manage to steal another Ragnarok, and one of my characters is offed before the final tier, the first thing I wanna do is throw that bad boy at God Kefka. His tack stars also do incredulous amounts of damage, especially combined with the Quick spell, not to mention his faithful dog. Sabin would come in next for his Blitzes, followed by Cyan, Mog, Edgar, Gau, Setzer, and Realm (I've never actually tried to Sketch Kefka.. wonder if it would work?). I generally don't take Gogo or Umaro into Kefka's tower, being that I like to have all the characters give their little speeches before the battle with Kefka.. I'm just a story geek. However, if for some strange twist of the imagination, I decided to take Gogo, Gogo would probably be my first choice even over Strago (just give him the commands Lore, Steal, and Blitz and you eliminate Strago's, Locke's, and Sabin's need to be in the lineup). I'd then use Edgar for my physical attacker, and keep Celes and Terra where they are. Shadow would still be my next in line; the order after that would pretty much be the same. I couldn't see myself taking Umaro into the final battle. ¥ P.S. Yes this is a direct copy from the "Fab Four" topic being that I mistakenly posted this there to begin with, being that I posted it at like 5am and had no sleep; but decided to keep it there with a few modifications being that I'd call those guys my ultimate party after it was all said and done anyway. -------------------- The problem with the world is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself? |

I started the final battle with a team consisting of Terra, Locke, Gogo, and Shadow. After a very uneventful and short fight(given most of my characters were at crazy high levels from much leveling up because I remembered how tough the Zeromus fight was), the team facing down the twisted Kefka-Angel-toga baddie was Terra(she was my strongest character and had my one economizer and Gem Box), Mog(who i put into Snowman Jazz the first move), Setzer, who had the Fixed Dice(though I had all unlucky throws and he managed to do around 1000 damge for the fight), and Edgar, who went drill-happy. The fight took about 3 minutes:)

I havent beaten FFVI on my actual SNES in awhile, but I remember using Umaro, Gogo, Locke, and Cyan. Umaro wud do several grand with his normal attack (i think i gave him the rage ring and marvel shoes for relics so he wud really dish out the damage), and Locke wud be dealing out some serious damage as well (at the time, i wasn't aware that gambling the ragnarok at the colosseum wud yield the illumina, so he was armed with the ragnarok and atma weapon, genji glove and offering combo). With near 9000 HP naturally, you cant go wrong with the atma weapon. Gogo wud be my healer and Cyan wud heal typically but join in and use some high level magic when it was needed. I have no idea what i used as far as armor goes, but thats about what my party looked like.

Terra: Economizer, Gem Box (all spells). She’s the primary attack mage.
Celes: Genji Glove, Offering, Atma Weapon, Illumina (8 hits of 9,999 damage -- enough to kill Kefka by herself Strago: Economizer. With all spells and all Lores, Strago acts as my healer and support caster. Shadow: Genji Glove. Throws powerful excess weapons for max damage; can strike twice with the Stunner when necessary. During the third battle (Goddess), I cast Life 3 on Celes (to make sure she’s there for Kefka) and Strago (healer). Then when I get to Kefka, I have to use a Megalixir after he reduces all your HP to 1. (When Celes has max HP, she does more damage with Atma Weapon.) Then I attack with Celes, and he’s usually dead. -------------------- The world before the fall... Delightful is the light of dawn... Noble is the heart of man... |

1) Terra (level 40) - Illumina, Minerva, Gem Box, Hero Ring 2) Relm (37) - Economizer 3) Celes (40) - Atma weapon, Offering, Hero Ring I originally wanted her for some physical attacks but after too many near misses with death, I switched to the Enchanter/Force Shield combo to push her m.block up. 4) Mog (40) - Pearl Lance, snow muffler, Dragoon boots, Dragon Horn His jump attacks weren't doing much damage compared to the girls (about 3000) but I couldn't just let him stand there and watch ![]() It was ladies' night + mog at Kefka's tower. Terra and Relm were bombarding the entire goddess/kefka battle with ultimas, with Celes joining in later. Terra, Relm, and Celes (at the end) had +110 mblocks so most of Kefka's attacks weren't scratching them. Most of my ultimas were doing 9999 damage, even with unmorphed Terra. Used the megaelixir when Kefka did THAT attack. Considering that this would be the final magic gig in the world, I went for a magic heavy group. I chose Relm over Strato because I haven't taught him ultima. Terra, Celes, and Mog were the party leaders in the tower (Mog being a cheap moogle charm fueld one man party who managed to solo Goddess). |

Well, in the functional team topic I posted it already in the topic A functional team. . Since I'm lazy and don't want to be bothered with it again, I'll just quote the relevent part of the post:
Quote Me, Myself and I. •Mog- Snow Muffler, Ribbon, Saftey Bit, Paladin sheild Genji Helmet and Auara Lance. Mog is the only one whom I remember the equipment he had on for the final battle. I always forgot if there was an instant death type attack amongst all of those enemies. I don't even remember if there is one now ![]() •Sabin- Two words: Bum Rush. •Terra- Because I thought she would double the power of Ultima. But Master Zed said I was wrong in another thread. It sounds fishy but because he would know better then me, I will take his word for it. At least, I will for now ![]() • Locke- Because I leave Gogo on the airship and still need a jack of all trades. I have used others but this it the team I always use now, unless I'm not serious about defeating the creep. Sure, I may test some things out or try another combo just for fun but normaly I'll use these guys. Quote Djibriel How is it possible that the Atma Weapon-rumor is so bloody persistent? Because people are stupid, myself included. I remember one time in my life, in the original pokemon games, when I wasted tons of time looking for Mew and would take every lead I could get. Trust me everybody, that truck won't move there is no lost bottle and you can't get to some sort of seceret city. There is a trick that I read about on IGN I'm going to try on my next save though . . . Does that answer your question Djbriel? -------------------- |
