Aye, it's been many a moon since I've shown up in this realm. ^.^; But.. here I am. I was just wondering what happened to that most righteous of projects?

Would you be referring to

Hey WGG. Um, sadly the FFVI hack will not be finished. It basically boils down to a few reasons: I started the project far too long ago and I was really unorganized in my approach back then, so I don't know where any of my free space is, what was changed, etc etc etc; also, there are several glitches in the game that I don't think can be fixed because they occurred a long time ago and I never bothered to fix them. Basically, although there was lots of cool stuff and new enemies and sweet animations, it was a big mess and it would've been more trouble than it was worth to fix it all up. IIRC, I sent you a copy of my unfinished hack awhile ago. Nothing has changed since then.
As for the FFV hack, that is still in full throttle and this project is organized much better, mostly due to the fact that it is RL's project, too, and I don't want to blow it for him. Whereas the FFVI hack had only 2-3 custom animations (I mean truly custom, programmed by hand and such, not just switching some pointers), this FFV hack has 100% custom animations. Every spell has an animation that was made entirely from scratch by me. RL is making an entirely new sprite set for every character and every job (way to go, man!), we are having new maps, hopefully all new enemies (if not, then at least all new bosses), and even some new features that I won't elaborate on. So I guess to answer your question, the FFVI hack is dead and will not be finished, but the FFV hack is more than alive and will most definitely be finished. -------------------- Is PJ |

SWEET. FFV is the only game in the series I consider on par with VI. And from your description...

And from your description... ![]() Have a look at the It's that time again... thread if this interests you. All's I have to add is, that project is most assuredly still in motion, and we're about to reach an important milestone very soon. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Yeah, I as well wondered what had happened to that project, but figured it got the axe. The little Magus superboss thing I talked about in the thread did get finished, then promptly sat around for a few years gathering dust. If anyone wants it, it's here, but I don't think it's anything special. Whatever Rune and Caesar get up to with FFV, now, that's guaranteed to be awesome.
