This is important information that I need for my Expert Version 2 project, and none of the other 13 topic pages contain a thread about this. What order do you guys get the WoR characters in when you're collecting all of them? I plan on making the WoR a very dangerous place with few options at the beginning, and I need to know what the popular first characters are after getting the airship. Obviously you get Celes, Sabin, Edgar and Setzer in that order. Beyond that is where the question mark lies. The game suggests that you get Cyan next, but how many of you actually get him first? I understand that some people like to hurry up and get Locke so they can get the Narshe goodies. If that's the case with the majority then I will go ahead and make the Pheonix Cave monsters weaker than those in other areas. You'll still be able to get the characters in any order you want, it'll just require some training. The WoR will be specifically tuned for high level training with stronger monsters and higher experience point rewards.
As for me I generally get the 8 characters in this order: Gau Cyan Locke Mog Umaro Terra Gogo Shadow Relm Strago This post has been edited by i90east on 5th March 2004 17:02 -------------------- FFXI (Siren server) Tauu the Windurstian Tarutaru! White Mage & Paladin |

I get Mog first. This is so I can get the Moogle Charm and avoid ennemy encounters. Next Gogo and Shadow, the easy chars (with the moogle charm). From there it will vary a lot, but probably Gau next, then Cyan, Relm and Strago. I usually get Locke last.
Hope that helps you. -------------------- ''The modern dictators are reviving a very ancient and encrusted way of life.'' [WHAT I THINK, Adlai Stevenson] |

Mog
Locke Terra Umarro Cyan Relm Strago Gau Shadow GoGo Mog first so I could use the Moogle charm then get Locke, so I could steal from all the bosses. Then I just get them in close order. With ever one is usually closest to the dot. -------------------- Yeah, I barely post. |

I also stick with trusty old Mog first, for that same Moogle Charming reason. After that I go and pick up the Offering and Fixed Dice (then back out of Kefka's Tower), and beyond that I have no specific order.
If you want to make it harder, it might be an idea to ramp up the difficulty (and maybe enc. rate, if you can) in the caves of Narshe or snowfields, making early Mog and Moogle Charm a less attractive proposition. If you can keep the actual town difficulty lower, then it should still be fine for people bringing Locke for treasures, I guess. |

Order of decreasing level-load factors, of course:
Gau +2 (pick him up for major battles, then LEAP him before picking up another char) Terra +0 (I am not 100% positive that Terra can be gotten before Cyan. I will confirm it on this playthru) Relm +0 Shadow +0 Locke +2 (One may want Locke for Owzer's house to steal lots of good eq. Can you return to Owzers house after you pick up Relm?) Strago +2 Cyan +2 Mog +5 Umaro WOR Umaro Cave +0 Gogo (WOR Gogo Cave) +2 For those of you interested in attaining L99 for each char: The levels of the last two are clearly irrelevant for Esper-levelup bonus purposes. So it doesnt matter which order you get them. In fact, if you want to minimize the time spent leveling chars to L99, then you may want to levelup all 12 chars to 99, then get Umaro and Gogo and when they join they will already be L99. i90- If the goal is to make a harder, yet still fun game, dont nerf the Phoenix Cave (relative to other WOR areas). Phoenix Cave has some of the cooler monsters in the game. If you are going to nerf something, nerf some of the monsters in Ancient Castle (Barbe, Enuo, Figaliz, Goblin, Suriander) and inside Veldt Cave (ToeCutter). boring monsters! But still pump up the other monsters in those areas, so its not a walkover. Blue Dragon, Boxed Sets, Lethal Weapons, Master Pug and Rhyos are still very cool monsters and should be pumped up appropriately. I havent played any version of your expertFF6 yet, but please beef up the DEF, MDEF, MBlock% of all the Legendary Dragons, if you havent already. I thought all of the Dragons were pushovers. Square should have used them as the Ultimate Weapons for FF6, but noooo; their stats are all very weak. I will most certainly be playing your version after my currect low-level game. You could make it very difficult to get Sabin right away. That would certainly make the game more challenging. If you filled that house up with dangerous baddies, more people would be reluctant to get him right away.
Anyway...I almost always go in the following order: Cyan Shadow Terra Relm Gau Mog Strago Umaro Gogo Locke -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? usually i go for Terra first because its easy. I already have trashed phunbabba once with celes and sabin using fire claws and Fire 2 . But in my new game she may be last priority as im using celes more. Mog is second. Then I usually get shadow. (or umaro depending on my mood, just cuz im in the area) Next Locke is high priority as hes my main fighter and the ragnarok of course. The next couple people are useless to me in essence and its just what i feel like doing. You know, if im killing a dragon here or there ill stop in and get them. Or ineed to do a quest. Gau usually follows Shadow for that reason, Im already on the veldt.

Quote (Tiddles) If you want to make it harder, it might be an idea to ramp up the difficulty (and maybe enc. rate, if you can) in the caves of Narshe or snowfields, making early Mog and Moogle Charm a less attractive proposition. There is no Moogle Charm in my expert versions. It's replaced by a new item called the Moogle Ball which absorbs a few different elemental attacks, and only Mog can use it. I don't want people to get Tritoch right away so I will increase the difficulty of the monsters in that area. Quote (Detah) If you are going to nerf something, nerf some of the monsters in Ancient Castle (Barbe, Enuo, Figaliz, Goblin, Suriander) and inside Veldt Cave (ToeCutter). boring monsters! I'm in the business of making monsters fun. Well I'll make a judgement as to what to do with those monsters when I get there. Quote (Detah) I havent played any version of your expertFF6 yet, but please beef up the DEF, MDEF, MBlock% of all the Legendary Dragons, if you havent already. I will most certainly be playing your version after my currect low-level game. Yeah the dragons got beefed up and I'll be adjusting them a second time. I recommend waiting for Expert Version 2 because it will be much better than the original. Quote (Neal) You could make it very difficult to get Sabin right away. That would certainly make the game more challenging. If you filled that house up with dangerous baddies, more people would be reluctant to get him right away. I'd rather make the monsters stronger than limit the player. Providing you've got Edgar, Celes, Sabin and Setzer - it's impossible to get Gau next. Why? Because to get him you have to approach him with three in your team. You can't get someone out of your party unless you have someone else waiting in the airship.
If you only have those four people, you can't take someone out your party. That's why the earliest you can get Gau is after you've got Cyan, or someone else. If you get say, Cyan first, he goes back to the airship and waits for him. Go and speak to him, THEN you can change your party to get three people in there so you can go and get Gau. As far as I know it's impossible to get him first (when you've already got CES and Sabin,) -------------------- "Luck is my middle name. Sabin
Cyan Gau Terra Mog Umaro Gogo Relm Strago Locke It should be fun to include Czar Dragon in the Dragons battle script. He would come to the rescue when there are near death and call others Dragons to make to battle very hard. But I know that the allowed space for battle scripts is very limited -------------------- «À l'aventure compagnons, je suis parti vers l'horizon! For me I go this order:
Cyan (The monsters in Mt. Zozo are fairly easy) Gau (Real easy to get once you have 4 characters) Shadow (Save shadow since I'm right on the veldt anyway) Terra (I sometimes get Terra earlier) Mog (Getting the Moogle Charm helps getting Locke) Umaro (Since I'm in Narshe, might as well get Umaro, and Tritoch) Locke (The montsers in the Phoenix Cave are tough, but I like having steal) Relm (Need to get Relm before Strago) Strago (Strago's easy to get once I have Relm) Gogo (I just always get Gogo last, no real reason) |

Hmm...I dont' really remember, but I'll try at this...
Celes Sabin Edgar Setzer Gau/Relm Shadow/Strago Terra Mog/Gogo Umaro (right after getting Mog) Cyan Locke (the least convenient) The ones listed as a/b are the ones I don't remember the order of. Either Gau and then Shadow or Relm and then Strago (immediately after Relm). Shadow I got a while after getting Gau though, so I may have gotten him after getting Terra. And I can't remember if I did the Narshe sidequest or Triangle Island sidequest first. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I think that the square designers wanted it done in a certain way because of clues about the next character available once you find a new person.
1. Sabin - Because of clues in Albrook, you should get him before going to Mobliz. 2. Cyan - Obviously, the bird. 3. Gau - Cyan mentions him when he joins. 4. Relm/Shadow - From the cave in the veldt. 5. Strago - Once you get Relm. 6. Locke - The emperor's letter found in Owzer's House, and now you have plenty of chars to take on the Phoenix Cave. 7. Mog - Now that you have Locke, you can open up Narshe. 8. Umaro - Mog is needed. 9. Terra - Only one left. I don't really see the game leading you by the hand to her at any point. 10. Gogo - Secret character, should be last. It could be argued that you would get it after going back to Thamasa once you get strago and talk to the traveler guy, but I still think it should be last. This is not the way I usually go, it just seems logical based on hints the game drops. -------------------- "Hit hard, hit first, hit often." --Adm. William "Bull" Halsey, USN |

I will usually follow the order the game suggests as well:
- Sabin - Cyan - Gau - Shadow (assuming you got him) - Relm - Strago (Fanatic's Tower optional at this point, lol) - Locke - Mog - Umaro Wtih Terra and Gogo somewhere in there. The game doesn't really lead you to Terra, but I usually beat Phunbaba the first time with just Sabin and Celes, before I get Edgar. |

I usually go
Cyan- love me some Sword Techs Terra- much better magic user than Celes for me Mog- who could go without this guy? (and to a lesser extent his charm) Umaro -(if I bother) but Terrato is right there and I'm already in Narshe Relm- Starlet's a decent Esper, and the painting is a fun boss Locke- definitely can destroy monsters in Phoenix Cave by now Shadow- don't really use him but Throw amuses me Strago- on the way to the Cult Tower, and what would Terra be without Gembox? Gogo- never really know what to do with it, but Bum Rush rocks so why not twice Gau- I HATE GAU -------------------- "I was using a metaphor.
