As with similar threads in the other forums, the aim of this is to collect questions and answers which should go on our FAQ page for Final Fantasy VI. Before submitting more, check the FF6 FAQ on the site to make sure it's not already there.
THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO ASK YOUR OWN QUESTIONS ABOUT THE GAME. It makes our lives immeasurably easier if you can provide an answer with your suggested question, or a link to the answer, either from another topic on the forum where you may have asked the question originally, or from an external source. Stupidly enough "Fenix" Down goes the other way on the PSX, to the annoyingly spaceless (but still better) "PhoenixDown".
There's enough space for the full Phoenix Down, though, and I hacked my ROM as such. Â The only place I can find where that doesn't fit is a scrap of dialogue when Locke gives you all the items from the Phoenix Cave, where I only could fit PhoenixDown. And if you can fit PhoenixDown, you can at least fit "MementoRing". But this is all completely off topic, so I'll drift back into FAQing to remind that we must have the Shadow's Dreams question in the next update. Â I'll paste in the stock response I give to questions on it: How many dreams can Shadow have? Â How can I see them? Do I need to Level up before [insert event here]?
No. The game is defeatable with an average level of 7.3. Any need of higher levels means either you are A: Inexperienced B: Unprepared C: Not strategizing well enough Pay more attention to the weaknesses of both friendly and enemy parties and go plan an attack. Quote (SharkESP @ 18th September 2003 14:26) You obviously have never dealt with swarms of people asking if thier levels are high enough before they go and fight some boss. It was sarcasm, don't worry. But it's not really the kind of question that should go into a FAQ, simply because the answer is pretty basic. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

true, but your faq deals with spoilers like secret characters. An FAQ means "frequently asked questions" and the most common question is always "Are my levels strong enough for XXX". Stating that your levels are always adaquate shuld not be a big deal.

Since SharkESP is bringing it up, and if the staff sees it as possibly a good idea, they could make a seperate page listing all the major points in the game, and the general level a first-time player of FFVI should be at.

That's a pretty silly idea. What level you need to be at for various parts of the game is dependent on way too many things to make a recommendation plausible. What weapons/espers/tools you have, which stat bonuses you've chosen to level with, who you feel like using, how willing you are to use items, whether you prefer to fight or use magic... ALL of these things make a huge difference in what level you "need" to be at to try something. Besides, it's pretty easy to answer yourself based on your own personal experience within the game. If you're having a hard time, you level up. It's not that difficult. -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

here's another one from me.
Can I control Umaro? no, you have no control over Umaro in battles at all. even in the Magitek Armor in Cyan's nightmares you have no control over him. he'll randomly use fire, ice, and bolt beams in Magitek Armor. can I use physical attacks in Fanatics' Tower? Yes. there are 3 ways to do this. 1. bring Umaro, since he always use physical attacks. 2. have Gogo use Mimic when no one do any action, 3 cast Bserk on one of your characters and he/she will just use weapons instead of magic. Where can I find Umaro?
in the WoB, you can only see him in a cave in Narshe, but you can't get him yet. in the WoR, you need to get Mog, who is also in narshe. make a party or three and he'll fill up the extra space. and make sure you grab the moogle charm to avoid incounters with enemies. and remember where you battled Kefka at Narshe? you'll find the ice dragon and the frozen esper. try to avoid the Ice dragon and defeat the esper, Tritoch and it'll open a way in the cliff to Umaro's cave. as you make your way into the cave, you'll find a skull with the esper, Terrato. taking it will bring out Umaro the sasquatch, who isn't very happy you took his shiny rock. beat him and have Mog order him to join you. What is the best way to beat Umaro? He normaly use physical attacks alot. his weaknesses are poison and Fire attacks. if he jumps, cast vanish or the Phantom esper and he will miss. he shouldn't be hard to beat. Why is Mog is the only Moogle that can have his equipment taken away and not the other moogles in the cave in narshe? Mog is a playable character. at first, he helps you protect Terra and defeat the guards. the other moogles are just there to help. only playable Characters (exept Umaro) can equip weapons. armor, and Espers,(and even Umaro can equip the extras stuff tho) characters such as Leo, the moogles other then Mog, Bannon, and other characters that join you and leaves you are supporting characters. you won't be able to keep them for the rest of the game. altho, Shadow and Mog are both main characters, they will leave your party and join you for good. I'm at Narshe where I've chased down Lone Wolf and he's on the cliff with a moogle, and when I've waited, they are both hanging, who should I go for? the Moogle or Lone Wolf for the Gold hairpin? go for the Moogle. This is Mog. Remember the moogle that helped you save Terra from the guards? that's him. and He'll join your party as a reward for repaying the favor back at the mines in the begining of the game. don't woory about the Hairpin, you'll get another one in the WoRs anyway What are some good monsters to leap? well, there are some often used rages. my favorite rage is Tyranosaur. I injoyed casting Meteo on enemies. if you wanta see what are the best rages, then go to this thread. http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/forums/ipb/index.p...wtopic=1710&hl= you should be able to find something good here. Quote Where's this frightful dragon the people in the Cave on the Veldt were talking about? Is this one of the eight dragons? Nope. It's really a mistranslation - the Japanese for dinosaur is roughly the same as dragon, so that's why you fight Tyranosaurs and the Brachosaurs in the forest there. It's really the same misunderstanding that led the earliest archeologists to exclaim that dinosaur fossils were the remnants of dragons who once walked the earth. Actually it may not be a misunderstanding. The english word "dinosaur" was coined somewhere around 1850. The beasts were always referred to as dragons before that, which is why there are so many ancient tales of humans fighting dragons. Young earth creationists believe "dinosaurs" co-existed with humans, and there is considerable evidence of this. I suggest removing the last sentence in that answer. Thanks. where and how can I beat Intangir?
you can find him on an island that is shaped like a Triangle in the WoB. he is hard to find. (the only other monsters there is Leafers) Intangirs are REALLY tough. but he's invisible. he's a purple Bahemoth. you have to use Doom on him. (or any other death attacks will work) and he counters with Meteo on one person before he dies. if you go for the hard way however, (you have to cast magic on him and use a weapon) and he'll counter attack with Meteo to all of your characters. if his HP is low, he runs away. (Thanks Shirrow about the habit of him running away) if you beat him, you get 10 AP. |

This wasn't listed in the Walkthrough, FAQ, or in Mog's Dance list, and I thought it was important.
You could add it in the FAQ under the question about Mog's dances. Acquiring the Water Rondo dance and getting back to your airship: Water Rondo can only be found in the World of Balance, but unfortunately if you want to get it you're going to have to make a side track because traveling through the rivers are one-way deals. To get the dance (which can only be acquired after first acquiring Mog in the World of Balance, which can be done at the earliest after leaving the Magitek Factory, because at that point Setzer teaches you how to fly the airship), you either need to fight a battle with Mog in your party at the Lete River or fight battles in the Serpent Trench. Park the ship outside the Returner's Hideout, take the raft down the Lete River, head through the Phantom Forest to the Baren Falls, head through the cave underneath the Veldt to go through the Serpent Trench and wash up at Nikeah, take the ship to South Figaro, head through Mt. Kolts, and to your airship. Note: You will only get Water Rondo if you fight and win a battle on the Lete River/Serpent Trench without using another dance, because if you do it will change the background before the end of the battle and you won't get the dance. Note: You can either land near the Returner's Hideout to start or near any of the other locations before the Serpent Trench, but you'll still have to go through the rest of the areas to get back to your ship. |

Is there a second genji glove?
Not really a second but more like the first. When Banon requests Terra's assistance at the Returners 'hide out', shut him down three time. Then he will give you a genji glove instead of a gauntlet. Its very good the get this item early in the game. -------------------- Yeah, I barely post. |

**********This Q&A has been revised on 2-17-04**********
Glenn Magus Harvey's post below was my inspiration which got me to realize my original answer was incomplete. Thanks. ![]() Here's a question I've answered Question: What are Gau's best rages throughout various parts of the game? Which ones should I get? Answer: When Gau first joins your party get Stray Cat (Catscratch), Over-Mind (Elf Fire), Bomb/Vaporite (Blaze), Templar (Fire 2, Safe) and Hazer/Ghost (Bolt 2). Trilium (Bio) also pretty good if you need a poison attack, as is Bleary (Doom) if you need an instant death attack. The Over-Mind rage is a hard one to get since you only see this monster in one enemy formation. Therefore it's alright if you don't have the patience to get it since you already have good physical and magical attack rages. For attack power reference, Catscratch > Elf Fire > Blaze > Bolt 2 > Fire 2 > Bio. Right after the Narshe battle go back to the Veldt for the Aspik (Giga Volt) rage. This will roast Ultros in the Opera House and every monster in the Magitek facility beyond belief (except Rhinox). However as with the Over-Mind rage, this one is also hard to get. Because of this you'll have time to collect some other rages while waiting for Aspik to show up. If you go to Zozo before heading back to the Veldt, you can pick up the Slamdancer (Ice 2) and the HadesGigas (Magnitude8) rages now. This will complete Gau's level 2 elemental spell collection via rages before you even get espers. Wind Slash is a powerful wind attack that's unblockable and the damage doesn't split among multiple enemies. You can get this from the Marshal rage. For attack power reference, Catscratch > Giga Volt > Magnitude8 > Wind Slash > Elf Fire > Blaze > Ice 2 > Bolt 2 > Fire 2 > Bio. Rhinox (Life 3) is a rage that becomes available after you go through the Magitek facility. This is good for boss battles. It's a poor offensive rage, but if Gau dies you can revive and assign him to another rage. By this time most of your characters will have Life 3 status, which is a pretty good deal this early in the game. If you would rather have Gau attacking with his full power then you may not want to bother with the Rhinox rage. The floating continent has a few decent rages if you're willing to go back down to the Veldt. If you do, grab the Behemoth (Meteor) rage. You're not supposed to get this spell until late in the WoR but Gau can have it so it may be in your best interest to take advantage of this opportunity. It's power is somewhat limited but it can't be dodged and enemy defense is ignored. Brainpan (Blowfish) is another goodie at this point in the game, guaranteed to deal 1000HP damage to a single target. For a more standard attack get the Ninja (Water Edge) rage, with a water attack almost as powerful as Giga Volt. All of the above rages will bring out Gau's full potential in the WoB. Since there is no order for which you have to do things in the WoR I will simply provide a list of good WoR rages. You'll definately want Retainer (Leo's Shock), Harpiai/Sprinter (Aero), Vectaur/Peepers (Pearl Wind) and Spek Tor/Wild Cat (Blaster). Lesser but still good WoR rages include Tyranosaur (Meteo), Io (Flare Star), Didalos/Mover (Merton), NightShade (Charm) and Barb-e (Love Token). Cutter/Gilomantis (Shrapnel) is fun to watch but Bolt 3 is just as powerful. The only dfference is that Shrapnel is a physical attack. Rages that are mostly obsolete by the time you get them due to espers include SrBehemoth/Brontaur (Fire 3), Punisher/Goblin/Rain Man/Karkass (Bolt 3), Woolly (Ice 3), White Dragon/Orog/Warlock/Madam/Outsider (Pearl), PowerDemon (Flare), Osteosaur (X-Zone), Nohrabbit/Dahling (Cure 2) and Magic Urn (Cure 3). For attack power reference (standard attacks only), Catscratch > Merton > Shock > Aero > Ice 3 > Fire 3 > Bolt 3 = Shrapnel > Giga Volt > Pearl > Water Edge > Meteo > Magnitude8 > Wind Slash > Elf Fire > Blaze > Ice 2 > Bolt 2 > Fire 2 > Bio For more information on attacks, check out Master Zed's FF3us Attack Guide v1.2. Adding to i90's post:
Nohrabbit and Dahling: Cure2 (if you can't get Magic Urn) Ogor (not Orog): Storm (same as the attack that Umaro gets when he has the Blizzard Orb relic equipped) (I don't know about the attack power of Storm.) Edit: Edited above information in the light of i90east's update of above post. Also added this below: Cyclonic is not that useful, because it has a huge chance of missing. Although it may seem useful, it not only misses those enemies who are resistant to instant death but also has a bad hit rate (from my experience). Edit2: I think the Mover rage also has Gau casting Merton. Does it? Ok I edited the post again thanks to Glenn and Master Zed's input. Glenn I checked the attack power of Storm and it's weaker than other available rage spells (I can get more information on this once I'm at home). I haven't had much experience using Cyclonic so I took it out of the Q&A since it's so lousy. Well hopefully this will be the final edit, so the CoN staff can add it to the FAQ once they get around to it. If anyone has anything to add, speak up now.
