I used to play World of Warcraft in my free time, but unfortunatly I can't afford to pay the subscription at the momment, and have been looking for a new way to waste some of my free time.
So far, alot of my time has been on the website Armor Games, playing Sonny and Last Stand 2, while trying out games here and there on the website, but I was wondering if anyone had any other games they could suggest. What do you play when you get bored with some time on your hands? Anything that is free and legal. No roms, no software you have to buy. I can always resort to Tetris again, but I'd love to hear some other ideas. -------------------- "And that, my liege, is how we know the Earth to be banana-shaped” -Sir Bedevere the Wise |

I used to play an online MMO called "Slayers." That was years back, and for all I know, it may not exist anymore. Maybe it would be worth a shot to google. It was free for download the last time I checked.

Sonny 2 is much better than the first Sonny. Once you've beaten Zone 3 of Sonny move on to the second.
There are lots of free MMOs that people get into; the ones my friends play a lot are Ragnarok and Mabinogi, but finding one isn't hard. -------------------- |

I play "GunZ: The Duel" at Ijji. It's a MMO TPS with fast paced action, a handful of exciting gameplay modes and some nice maps.

I could always suggest the free games provided by my company, but they're definitely of a more casual bent (and mainly used to get people to sign up to play the "win-cash" games). They're mostly puzzles and word games and such.

Edit Edit: It is worth mentioning that these games aren't full-length games like WoW or Gunz or any of the other online games. These are just amusing flash games that have occupied a lot of my personal free time in the past. Some great games I have had that site bookmarked on my computer for a long time now, and it has not disappointed me yet. Winterbells in particular is a really simple game that can get very, very addicting very, very quickly. I have spent hours and hours playing that game before, often spending 10+ minutes on one attempt. It gets somewhat frustrating, but it's still really addicting for some reason. The Onslaught Tower Defense is equally as addicting, if not more. I have tried so many combinations on that game, I am embarrassed to admit it. I literally have spent 2 hours on one attempt several times. My record is wave 338. It's so addicting to try new combos. Bubble Tanks 2 is another great game. It doesn't involve much thinking at all, and it is very difficult to lose. It's pretty short if you know where to go, but even if you don't it's still a lot of fun just roaming around blasting stuff. Even know I'll finish it between classes just for something to break up the day. I haven't tried many of the others, mostly because I am afraid I'll get hooked like I did with those three at some point. You should check out that link, though. It might help, if only for a few hours. This post has been edited by Caesar on 30th January 2009 16:05 -------------------- Is PJ |

Gametap is great for free games. http://www.gametap.com/
Deus Ex is now freeware, and just so happens to be my favourite game. You can download it free on Gametap but I'll bet there are plenty of other places to find it. There's also Thief, Metal Slug, Street Fighter, Fallout, and loads of others. Edit It's changed a little now. I'm not sure if the ones I've listed are all free. They certainly were last time I looked. Umm... Ragnarok?
People may not think of this as a free-time game, but here's the cool part, as long as you log in at least once every six months, you can keep you characters. So you don't have to play all the time, but you can progress your characters on your own time. -------------------- If internal struggles were as enjoyable and glamorous as the self conflicted wars within video game characters, we would all be statues, reveling in perpetual self war. -Me Play me on Rock Band 2, GH-WT, or any other Xbox GH! Thanks for all the really good ideas.
Gunz is kinda cool. I think I'll get sick of it soon enough, but it will entertain me for awhile. That's a great site Caesar, thanks for sharing. I tried Ragnarok for awhile. I understood how to kill stuff, but that's about as far as I got. I did that for several levels, then... I guess I had to do a quest to do something with my class or something, and I got lost. There wasn't alot of direction given. = \ -------------------- "And that, my liege, is how we know the Earth to be banana-shaped” -Sir Bedevere the Wise |

Game In A Bottle has a few fun games, including Gemcraft, a tower defense game in which you actually level up based on your high scores for each level, which allows you to purchase new upgrades to prepare you for the tougher levels ahead.
Of course, if you're looking for an MMO, there's always Runescape. Dozens of trainable skills, no set classes, a decent free content base, and a comparatively low monthly cost if you do decide to go for the extra quests, skills, areas, etc. Lastly, I'll point you in the direction of Andkon Arcade, with a vast array of flash games in a wide variety of genres. Here's to hoping you get some enjoyment out of these links. |
