Every time i wager the Striker, and even sometimes when i don't, Chupon appears and uses "Sneeze" and the battle ends.
I can't get past this part :-( |

Ok two things.
1. YOu have to save Shadow from the floating continent before the end of the world 2. You have to find shadow in the cave on the veltd in the wsorld of balance. Save him, then talk to him in thamasa. Stay in the inn, or leave town. When you come back he'll be gone. This is when you wager the striker at the colosseum. IF you've done both of those, then I have no clue what could be wrong. -------------------- Ff7 current game progress:Just finished the underwater reactor, on to rocket town! |

I'm not sure he's talking about Shadow.

Quote (footbigmike @ 23rd July 2006 13:19) I'm not sure he's talking about Shadow. If Shadow does not exist, betting a Striker will cause you to fight Chupon. (Shadow is the prize.) Chupon appears as the enemy whenever you make a bad bet. (Not everything you bet has a prize.) Caves of Narshe has a complete list of Colosseum Bets. This list can be arranged by item wagered or item won. -------------------- The world before the fall... Delightful is the light of dawn... Noble is the heart of man... |

Did it really show "Shadow" in the prize box when you bet the Striker after saving Shadow, where the name of the prize would normally be? Just FYI, as I recall, you get your Striker knife back if you fight Shadow. Also, being blown away by Chupon doesn't make you lose your original item (although being KOed by him does), but beating Chupon gets you an Elixir all the time. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. The most popular way I've heard of is using Lock with two Valiant Knives (Genji + Offering), and with appropriate stat boosts, doing 9,999 each attack. So he'd definitely not invincible. Another tactics is Jumping with Dragoon Boots.

So you felt the need to quote me for no reason, basically? I'm just giving him the strategy most people talk about. No, I don't feel like doing Esper boosts. The game is easy enough as it is.
I did almost beat Chupon with Shadow, using a similar strategy, but not with the Valiant Knives of course. The joy of the speed up button. This post has been edited by Zeromus_X on 1st August 2006 01:40 -------------------- |

Chupon is vulnerable to Stop, as Master ZED mentions every time this is brought up (seriously there are like 4 topics in which this is mentioned). As he stated MULTIPLE times before, the Stunner weapon for Shadow can stop him on the first turn, enabling you to kill him. Or, you can use Cyan and hope you get lucky and he uses Stunner. Or you can get lucky and someone will just straight cast stop on him and you can win from there. That's one of the ways to beat him.
Certainly using the Valient Knife and Atma Weapon with the Offering will do the trick (the best set-up for Locke, IMHO), but stopping works well too. -------------------- Is PJ |
