Final Fantasy Tactics Walkthrough
Lost Sacred Precincts
Balk has been resurrected with the dark magic we've seen before and is back in action along with the Shrine Knights. This is probably the most difficult battle in the ending sequence because of Balk's range; he has another awesome gun and isn't afraid to use it. Send someone up close enough to hit him right away, preferably Orlandu, who should be in Ramza's squad again, and blast the heck out of him. Hopefully he'll go down, but if he doesn't, use the same strategy as before and send Meliadoul or Agrias after him. If you have everyone equipped properly, they should stay alive long enough to get to him again for another attack. Ranged attacks are key, because there is a choke point for crossing the map near Balk and the other crossing point requires you to plow through most of the monsters in the opposing party. If range is not your strong suit, prepare to tank as best you can because keeping your party grouped will help avoid getting a single member separated over the chokepoints and murdered by three monsters at once.
The monsters here supporting Balk are tough customers but should be mostly avoided to focus on Balk wherever possible. It can be fun to try to invite them into your party, or poach them, but even if you do, there's not much opportunity to do anything with trained monsters or their poach drops, so it's better to just ignore them unless you're looking to simply mess around some.
If you drag the battle out, you can be overwhelmed by the monsters, most of whom can fly across the impassable sections of the map (and a couple of them have ranged attacks), and the Chemist can undo the damage you apply if you don't maintain focus.
If you're wildly overpowered or can otherwise survive long enough to do it, stealing guns off of the humans in this battle can get you some additional firepower; again, though, at this point in the game it's not really necessary. If you're planning on using guns, you probably already have some powerful enough to do what you want. Therefore, this can also be another battle where you just short-circuit it by immediately killing the main target and moving on to the endgame.
Now that all of the Templarate underlings are dead, you'll catch up to Vormav, who is trying to hurriedly finish his masterplan.
