Final Fantasy Tactics Walkthrough
Any buffing that you chose to do for the previous sequence will now be erased, and you'll be back to your standard levels. This is unfortunate, because speed is absolutely of the essence here if you're going to have a chance at winning; frankly, the game is looking to abuse you here.

Here is where items like
Sprint Shoes and
Green Berets come in handy - you definitely want to get the jump on these enemies. Pay attention to your fastest characters, and put them in the back of the party selection screen before this battle, as the ones in the back will be the closest to the objective (another way that this battle wants to try to cheat you). If you do not have fast characters, or the ability to make your characters faster by putting them into fast classes and/or in fast equipment, you might not even get a turn in this battle.
Ninjas with high speed really come in handy here because they are really fast and can do heavy damage. The only thing you need to do to win this battle is put one of the three enemies into critical condition or to knock them out entirely. This sounds far easier than it actually is.
Celia and Lede can stop and kill anyone with 100% accuracy (so if you have any equipment that can nullify those statuses, like
Jade Armlet or
Judo Outfit, consider using it), and Elmdor is quite powerful with Samurai Skills. Have someone there to back Rafa up with
X-Potions, and maybe even bring along someone with Holy to hit the enemy you're targeting from long range.
A character like Agrias really helps, especially with Lightning Stab, though she is slow by default and might need to be shifted to a quicker class with Equip Sword and her Holy Knight skills as a secondary to be useful.
This is tough but if your characters have high speed, you'll get the jump and you should be able to win. It takes a little luck, particularly in terms of what Rafa decides to do on her first turn, and the ability to disrupt the enemy by physically getting in between them and Rafa.
After the battle, Rafa and Ramza will be sitting on the roof with Malak's body. Rafa is in tears, but then a voice comes from the friendly neighborhood Holy Stone. Ramza is about to warn her to be careful with it, but a flash of light bursts from it and Malak is magically healed - it appears that the stones are not inherently malevolent but can also respond to the positive spirit of their holder.
Afterwards, the three search the castle looking for Alma but find only the Holy Stones previously given to her for safekeeping. Rafa and Malak can join you for good now, as you head off to look for whoever kidnapped Alma. Malak thinks it is likely to be Vormav, so he's the next target.
Rafa and Malak are generally considered to be the least useful special characters in the game, but Rafa particularly has a special use due to her low Brave stat; she is an innately good treasure hunter when she has that ability equipped as her Move ability from the Chemist class.
