At Lesalia, Ramza tries to meet with Zalbag to tell him that something's wrong with the plot and that he thinks Dycedarg is involved with the kidnapping of the princess. Zalbag is appalled that Ramza would try to blame their brother for anything and leaves once word comes that Goltana's troops have broken through a pass. Ramza goes to leave but is stopped by Alma outside. He explains everything to her, and she believes it all, including everything about Dycedarg's involvement in the plot. Alma wants to go with him, but Ramza refuses. Before he can leave, though, a man named Zalmo approaches and declares that Ramza has been declared a heretic by the church and must surrender to arrest.

Lesalia Castle, Back Gate

Zalmo is the objective in this battle, and in this case it's not a difficult task. He can heal and will often retreat, but you should have plenty of available firepower, including a beefed-up Ramza from the buffs that Alma will inevitably cast on him. This is another battle where you can put Ramza at the back of the formation, because the plot will shift him to the front lines before the battle starts, freeing up more spots at the front of the formation to squeeze through the chokepoint at the start of the battle.

If you can break the enemy lines to pursue Zalmo right away, you should be able to end the battle early. If you stole guns from the Chemists in the last battle, make sure you have them equipped to finish the battle from range. If you don't want to end the battle early, gang up on the standard enemies as they approach your position so that you can knock them out one by one. Putting them down in a single turn will give you the chance to farm JP, experience, and chests/crystals while the primary enemy struggles to keep up.

After the battle, Ramza will explain to Alma a bit about the Holy Stones, and she mentions that she saw something that fits their description at Orbonne Monastery. Ramza starts to leave to investigate, but his sister insists that she come along. He refuses at first, but when she reminds him that he's a heretic and won't be able to get into the Monastery without her help, he allows her to come along at least until he's seen for himself whether a stone rests there.

Be sure to resupply and reequip on the way to your next destination, as there is a string of battles coming up against stronger opponents.
