Barbaneth Beoulve

Biography
Barbaneth is the patriarch of House Beoulve as the story begins. A hero of the Fifty Year War, his deeds paved the way for the rise of House Beoulve to high status in Gallionne. Dycedarg, Zalbaag, Ramza, and Alma are his children from his two wives. Barbaneth is ill throughout Chapter One and dies of his sickness before that prologue chapter is complete.As the story unfolds, Zalbaag overhears Loffrey taunt Dycedarg about the latter's use of poison to kill his father and usurp the head of the house; Barbaneth died so that Dycedarg could leverage House Beoulve to take power as one of the Lucavi.

Former lord commander of the Order of the Northern Sky, Lord Barbaneth was hailed as Knight Gallant—the highest rank in all of knighthood. His countless victories helped to compensate for Ivalice's inferior numbers in the Fifty Years' War. Fear of this lord convinced Ordallia to agree to an equal peace, although Ivalice had in fact lost. He died of malady at war's end.
