I have to say I really enjoyed FF IX's ending. Nothing particuarly deep about it, just happy and satisfying. The awesome-for-ps1-standards visuals on the FMV are also a plus.

Who would have tought that Delita was going to stab back Ovelia?

And praticly didn't touch much the main character wich isn't really bad because you play the whole game with him, you just see what happens.

I pretty much admire all of them. But my favorite ending is a tie between Final Fantasy V's (If you beat the final boss with all characters) and Final Fantasy IX (If you get Cinna's hammer).

They both had beautiful music, especially the one with the Hiryuu flying and the song playing while Marcus (I think that's the guy) was waiting for Princess Cornelia, but she never came. The story for the ending was quite nice... But I found FFIX's not very "active" except going to watch the play..

In FFV's, I liked that better. I liked how the void returned everything that was sucked up, and I also loved the part at the Moore Forest.

So, all-in-all, they both are legendary to me.

My favourite is FFIV's ending. It resolves everthing, implies what's happening in the future, and it's generally happy. I like that.

I thought FFX's ending was well-done, but it's sort of bittersweet.

You see a scene with Cinna, Blank, and Ruby, I'm not sure whether or not this is correct, but I'm almost certain you see an extra scene with Cinna's Hammer.

My favourite would have to be FFVIII, particularly the scene where

Eyes on Me is my favourite vocal track in the series because it always reminds me of this scene.

My other favourites would have to be FFIX and FFX. I liked FFIX's ending because it was the most touching ending, and FFX's ending because

The part where Cara's letter is read was especially touching. Not to mention Uematsu's "Dear Friends" track, which perfectly complemented the mood.

I would have to say Tactics, because it doesn't explain everything. Sure my favorite character dies, but she was kinda tragic anyway.

Honorary mention goes to VIII for that stream of coinciousness thingie and the symbolism. (Albiet a touch hamfisted, but maybe I'm being to critical.)

Favorite ending is probably FFVIII, one of the first "realistic" endings. I actually liked FFVIII cause it wasn't really a fantasy, it actually seemed real (the characters personalities, portraits). Sure there were idiots in the game (Selphie, Rinoa), but the ending of FFVIII was nicely done.

FFV probably had a horrible ending, it was too generic. FFVI had a nice ending, and so did FFVII.

FFVII was awesome, the ending cinematic was cool with the highwind trnasforming, then you just get this feeling "Saved the World" bling!

although FFX was very touching, like what the heck now hes gone all the love gone,

VI hands down. You get an ending coda for each character, not to mention the elation of knowing that the party just reached the edge of oblivion but came back from the brink all the better for it.

Well, except for Shadow.

FFIX has a great ending. It's touching how all the characters have better, happier lives after the game and the farewell letter was just great. If only Kuja hadn't died.

Edit
I posted twice in the same thread. I didn't realize I posted before this one.

Eight. Life seemed so much better when it was out of the way...

Seriously, though, Six probably wins. Nine's ending was okay, FF4's wasn't too hot, nor was 5's, and 7/10 have their extended endings which suck...

Yes, this topic has been done before: http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/forums/ipb/in...?showtopic=7499 .

And as in that topic, I'll say here again that I like Final Fantasy V's ending the best--it was, in fact, quite touching.

The FFT ending is exactly all of that. While the bitter and fated tone is overwhelming, the dualism comes from Ramza's segment actually giving us some good news. Furthermore, the bitterness had been consistent throughout the entire game. The plot almost resembles a list of atrocities. I see the ending as the only happy part of the game (excluding all of those "good feelings" I got).

Then again, I feel that FFX takes the cake because its level of emotion is greater than any other one for me. Also, the profound meaning goes beyond the social and human messages by involving the theme of water. The discourse on the natural world that FFX's ending addresses left me pondering for a long time. (Is that too vague? I don't want to write a book and put it in a spoiler).

By the way, why in the name of moogles is this not a poll?
