New FF VII: Advent Children Trailer Released
There are a few noteworthy things about this latest trailer. Firstly, both Vincent and Barret make an appearance. There is also an appearance by three white-haired characters. These apparently will be some of antagonists in the story. Finally, the trailer ends by showing September 2004 as the release date.
The kind fellows at Games_Are_Fun.com are hosting the video if you want to check it out for yourself.

While I'm not going to rush to the store or anything when this is released, the DVD does intrigue me. Hopefully, it does Final Fantasy VII justice. If it does not, that's fine. I'll just deny it ever existed.

How do you get it to stop trying to open in the iE window?

Try right-click->Open in new window. I can't see it with Windows Media Player of DivX player. WMP tells me that the file is either corrupt of WMP doesn't support the file type. DivX just says "Unable to open local file: [the URL of the trailer that I typed in]".

Quote (Dark Paladin @ 20th February 2004 22:55) How do you get it to stop trying to open in the iE window? Don't use IE. (Ever.) I only get 18 seconds of it in Media Player Classic, and that's just some stuff that looks like Midgar ruins that gets cut off. Definitely needs some kind of special codec or is just generally broken.

gamespot also has the movie up for dl...no sub-titles though. I bet some fan-sub group takes the time to release it within the next few days though. and their version works even

Arrgh, my hopes were up so high, and yes I too am preparing to either watch and enjoy or deny its existence.

There's a working copy at [dohtml]Advent Children.net[/dohtml] and unlike the Gamespot one, you don't need to register. It looks pretty neat. Cloud doesn't seem to look girly in this one (though he does look more Asian somehow, to me), but Sephiroth appears to still be in woman mode. And appearances from Barret and Vincent are always welcome. Gives me a little hope that this isn't quite as simple as Cloud vs. Sephiroth: This Time It's Personal.

Is it just me, or does the story seem a little too like Spirits Within? In Spirits Within, Possible spoilers: highlight to view and that's happening in Advent Children, too. humankind is suffering from some disease isn't it? It's almost certain Barrett is in it with a new function for his arm - and there's a character who looks suspiciously like Vincent. It seems like Possible spoilers: highlight to view the rest of the cast excepting Red XIII or at least some of them have died due to the Star Syndrome. Red XIII can't be dead because of the ending to FF7.

Actually, Possible spoilers: highlight to view they were being invaded in TSW, not dying from a disease. I couldn't see the video, but I got plenty of audio. I heard like five people - two men, a woman, a little boy, and either a second woman or a man with a girly voice - and I also heard a bunch of metal clanking.

Well, I've yet to see a smooth version of the first trailer and I haven't seen the second one either. Whichever one I dl'ed won't play on Media Player no matter where I dl'ed it from.

Okay, I don't have much time to post this up so I'll do this quick. The bell is about to ring that will move me to my final class of the day, so I thought I might as well post up the article I found in my magazine about this topic. Luckily, I posted this up on another forum so all I had to do is find it and the magical buttons of ctrl c and ctrl v. This article has a lot of information on this and I hope it will help you guys out, cheers. ********************************************* THE FINAL FANTASY MOVIE YOU ALWAYS WANTED (title) When someone within Square Soft said, "Hey guys, we should do a sequel to Final Fantays X," a new door was opened. Instead of constantly abandoning the work of the past, the entire series could theoretically be expanded upon. Naturally, when gamers caught wind that Square Soft was creating a follo-up to Final Fantasy X, everyone requested that Final Fantasy VII should be the next title to be revisited. Apparently, Square Enix listens to its fan base. Final Fantasy VII is indeed making a return, but not in the way that you were expecting. As of now, Square Soft is planning on re-releasing the original details have been given as to whether the game will feature any new content or upgrades in graphics and gameplay. We do know, however, that Square Enix hopes to include a bonus DVD featuring an hour-long CG movie dubbed Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Additionally, it is not known if this movie can play on regular DVD players or if it will only work on the Playstation 2. Square Enix also didn't reveal if the DVD would be sold seperately. Regardless, what we've seen thus far can only be described as mind-blowing. The story in the movie takes place two years after the end of Final Fantasy VII. Some mysterious force is disturbing the peace. Seeing footage of Cloud almost brought a tear to our eye. Watching Sephiroth walk through the fire just as he did in Final Fantasy VII made us jump out of our seats and say, "Kick ass! When does the movie come out?" Square Enix hasn't set a firm release date just yet, but it is hoping for summer 2004 in Japan. The U.S. release will follow shortly thereafter. ********************************************** This is not my own words. This comes from GameInformer magazine issue 127. GameInformer is a great place to find information and I would suggest it to anyone who likes to know about up coming topics on games, systems, ect. VERY good sources of information. I'm probably not going to post up anymore articles, since I don't want to get in trouble with GameInformer. Hence, I advertise a lot whenever I post up anything from their magazine. So, go buy a GameInformer ![]() Hope this helps, cheers.
