Dissidia Coming up in 2009 on the PSP

Dissida: Final Fantasy
If your Squenix fantasies revolve around a mash-up of popular characters duking it out in some bizarre interdimensional struggle between good and (yawn) evil, the recent announcement of Dissidia's upcoming mid-2009 release is the culmination of your crossover cravings. Dissidia is Squenix's latest swipe at the fighting game genre, last attempted with Ergheiz on the original PlayStation and The Bouncer on the PS2, in which the player will have the power to choose between good and evil and stuff and, presumably, play through the story as everyone from Sephiroth to Zidane (complete with that ridiculous tail) to either save the world (because we're good guys) or destroy it (because we just can't help ourselves and, plus, we got thwarted last time we tried, except for Kefka, who, by my count, is still in the lead) as agents of either Cosmos (good god) or Chaos (figure it out) in an epic excuse to pit your favorite Squenix characters against each other in a battle to the most points (or something). Also, there will be summons. (Surprise!)

Narratorway Ignoring the fact that I don't have a PSP and have no real intention of getting one any time soon, the opening cinematic does a pretty good job of almost making me regret I'll never play it.

I WANT THIS GAME SO BAD!

Rujuken I've played an import. Haven't played much of it but it seems to be a nice game. I was mostly playing Cloud and Garland. I didn't play much so I wasn't able to get many moves with them. Once you get some levels you get more moves and become more formidable. Equipment you get helps out a lot also. It can make the difference in a fight.

Too bad Kefka hops and makes squeeky sounds with his feet. Makes him seem too clownish. Sure he is supposed to be crazy. But I always saw him more threatening/creepy/crazy than nutty/crazy. At least his counterpart, Tina, is a pretty awesome character.

No-Name I think it's a pretty good game (I have the import version) although it's a fighting game, it still has a lot of rpg elements. I've been a bit busy lately so I haven't played it much, it is very interesting though and I'll get the US release when it comes out so I can read it happy.gif
IstaruneComment 6: 2009-02-16 05:52
Istarune Gamestop is now taking preorders on Dissidia for the USA. The listed release date is 8/31 for the pre-orders.

Raian the Fallen I'd buy a PSP just for this game.
Rangers51Comment 8: 2009-02-16 13:41
Rangers51 It's not yet available for preorder on AmaCoN, but once it is I suggest you get it there if you're planning to get it. They ship so you get it on release day and then I don't hate you. smile.gif
