I kinda hate to disappoint you, but there isn't much left to do. Sure there are more espers to be found, but in the last level, there's really, really no need for them. If all your characters' levels are in the low-to-mid-50s range and above, completing the game will be of little challenge (especially if they all have Bubble Belts). There's always Clan Centurio if you really want to procrastinate the ending; but other than that, you're just about done.

I'm one of those guys that has to get everything done (I don't use Espers BTW, they take away all your MP). Most of what I have left involves Marks, and they're in places that are not suggested I go until I reach level 70, and I'm not even at Level 60 yet. -CSM

I FINALLY got myself some Final Fantasy XII! ***dancing*** The voice acting is pretty darn good, I must say, especially for Balthier - he brings to mind a young Sean Connery. Very pleasant to listen to tongue.gif

I'm also highly amused by the inability of any of the actors to pronounce the word "Marquis." ha ha ah. Mark-wiss. lol! It's Mar-kee, goofs!

After racking up 200+ hours and gauging the worth of some of the game's features, I have to say that even though I'm opposed to voice acting, FFXII definitely gives a great display of well it can be pulled off. Balthier's VA is especially enthusiastic, which may be why I find his character more likeable than, say, Vaan.

When I say enthusiastic, I mean he doesn't deadpan it or give in excruciating "Ha ha ha ha!" performances a la FFX. It's decent voice acting for the most part.

FFXII definitely has much better voice acting, but I credit the director for this. FFX's voice director, Kazushige Nojima, was really, really bad and had many of the lines out of realtime. Daisuke Watanabe and Miwa Shoda co-directed them this time, and they did a much better job of making fluent dialogue. -CSM

I have to agree, I just bought FFXII yesterday, and I'm liking it. It's somewhat nostalgic of the original FFtactics, even though there are judges it still feels more like the original.

I'm liking it so far. Balthier is a bad ass, I'm still curious as to how the damage calculation works for Guns.

Guns ignore the enemy's defense. Since they do so, they can have low attack power yet still do sufficient damage.

Btw, Balthier is my favorite characer thumbup.gif

When I saw the judges, I was definitely thinking they would be like the judges in FFTA, ie: setting a bunch of arbitrary rules for every fight. I agree, there is something very Tactics about it in the sense of the behind-the-scenes politics and double-crossing and the such.

I think another thing that reminds you of Tactics is the general color scheme. Not to be that simple, but there are a lot of browns, golds, and autumn colors. Much like in the original tactics.

I agree with both statements, and the architecture is very similiar to the first tactics as well. Also the lettering that runs across the screen whenever you're in a new area is exactly the same as the one from the original tactics.

I'm so glad there are no random arbitrary rules.

they kind o flose their appeal by the end of the game though, because your characters should have the majority, if not all of the liscense grid mastered, and there are many more powerful weapons out there, including ranged ones.

I still like them. They're a bit slower than most weapons, but they can't be blocked, parried, countered, or anything. They're even 100% accurate; they never miss. A powerful gun loaded with the right ammunition can blow just about any enemy's brains out, then blow them back in just to blow them out again. laugh.gif

It really depends on what level you are, I'm level 92 with my strong party and level 49 with my sub-party, and as long as I use my high-level party, I can beat most things, even gilgamesh/enkidu without too much trouble. flyers get annoying though because my top three use melee weapons, so I have to revert to using magicks that I prefer to keep for dispelling statuses - be they positives on my foes or negatives on me, and keeping positive statuses on my party. My Baltheir Is decked out in the Genji equipment (which was rather easy to come by in this game btw, which I liked) and the Masamune (i think they should have made it huge like Seph's, that would have been cool) and when he is stacked with Brave, Berserk, Haste, Protect, and Bubble - he's a demigod. He'll rip 3-7 combos consistantly for straight 9's on anything. I love him. I need to progress in the story a little further so I can finish the clan hunts, which aside from acquiring the strongest weapons (that I'm interested in) is the only sidequest I plan on undertaking in this game.Well, that and acquiring all the espers. I'll probably take on Omega XII too.

Im still pretty early in the game and im was just doing some hunts and it says in my clan primer for some of the hurnts in giza plains it needs to be raining.
How can i get it to rain there?

Is it the wet season? Grass everywhere? That comes and goes depending on the storyline. But sometimes, in the wet season, it doesn't rain much, or it rains a lot. You just leave the screen and go back. For one hunt, I had to leave and come back at least 2 dozen times, if not more. It was the Adamantoise thing.

The plains are locked in the dry until you have to cross them during the rains in the storyline. If you are trying to get some marks even before this than you will not be able to get the rains to come, just progress the story some and do them all then. There is a seeq by the southgate the calls himself the weather eye and he will tell you when it will change from the wet to the dry and vice versa.

as stated, all you have to do is wait. try going to train in the estersands (thats what i did) for a while, or do another side quest, but check in every once in a while.

The rainy season is only an hour in-game time, IIRC, while the dry is twice as long. As said, the NPC 'Weather Eye' at Rabanastre Southgate will keep a running clock of sorts, telling you approximately how much time is left.

I must say FFXII is actually in the running to usurp as my favorite FF.
that says a lot.

I'm not done with the game yet, but they truly brought the world of FFtactics into the mainstream series in the best way possible.

It has so much nostalgia from the original FFT and square brought in the new races such as Vieras and bangaas, that made me worry at first, but it's all turning out grand.

Great job by Square on this one.

Vaan and Ramza, Vaan is very similar to Ramza in many ways.
Vaan is dressed like the monk from FFT
You can have guests in your party.
Some enemies look like enemies from FFT
Moving across a 3D world to battle your enemies completely reminds me of battles from FFT
Characters can equip anything after learning the right skillsets
Hell, the license system reminds me of the JP system
Environment color schemes
The book when you save
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Nethicite reminds me of "holy stones"

and if anyone wants to feel free to add to the list

I have some rekindled faith in square.

I completely agree, they completely outdid themselves, and I find that the story more than anything reminds me of the original tactics... But the color schemes and Vaan are quick reminders. I also have to say that XII brings a new level of depth to the series in that the world is soooooo massive and there are a ton of sidequests... I have racked up over 135 hours and I'm not quite done yet, I still have to finish the bestiary and defeat yaizmat and omega mk XII, so by the time i'm done this game will have thoroughly kicked my ass! cool.gif

reawlly there is no specific level, some people have beaten Yiazmat, who might be the toughest monster in the game (though I think Gilgamesh was) at levels under 10. It just depends on how good of a strategy you have.

WOO HOO! I defeated Zodiark,finaly, I hate that guy. The only thing squre left out was to immune him from death, I hate him.

What's the deal with Zalera?, by far the EASIEST esper in the game.

HA, just as I was posting, I went to the Estersand to get my reward for defeating the Bloodwyng in the Barheim Passage, and OOOPS, The Unlucky Merchant dude had some fine things in stock. He has HASTEGA, the GOLDEN AXE, and the DIAMOND ARMLET, finally, these darn treasures won't be so crapp anymore!

GWUAHAHA, the hour of Yiazmat draws near, actualy, the many hours of Yiazmat.

EDIT: This luck of mine.The guide says, it will take a lot of air traveling for Death gaze to appear. It appeared on my second flight ever!

EDIT 2: I just realized, this game has a Vanish/ Doom like effect. This time it goes Reverse/ Renew (HP goes down to 1). I wonder, does this only work against Deathgaze?
