The sweatstains on the chest and the pits.... those lips.... and the dangling blonde armpit hair just didn't do it for me. The whole thing seems a bit.... simplistic? Still, not a bad first submission.

He's smoking blunt, has hairy armpits, short legs, sexy lips... The kind of badass Cid is. It's an alright attempt for a first drawing. Keep it up.

Touched it up a bit. Got rid of the armpit hair and the sweat stains, and made the lips smaller.

He still looks like a paper cut-out. There's no form to his body, even though it's twisted into such a weird pose.

It still looks the same, to me. I didn't see the changes.

Your Cid looks like it's been done by a grammar school art student, but it's definately a lot better than what I could do. Like Hamedo said, I see no difference between the two pics, they look exactly the same to me.

Apparently I accidentally deleted the old link when I posted the new one, so that is why they look the same.
Still, this was merely a practice means to get my drawing hand back into play, just a step in the trial and error process. Next quarter I will be taking some observational drawing classes so that will help a great deal. I do have plans to make some fan art to go along with my FF6 fan fiction, so honing my drawing skills is a must. As far as the lack of form goes, I did all the shading in photoshop. Only the lines of the drawing were done by hand. If you have any suggestions as to how to give the drawing a more 3D feel go ahead and let me know. |

It would be a very well done hieroglyphic pitures for an Egyptian King and Queen, is that a good compliment? I think so, it would be a master piece to them. It's a good 2-D drawing, but try to give him a form. 3-D like, it would look pretty decent, if you think 3-D is your thing, but it appears to me you like flat drawings. That's ok, as long as you like it.

Yeah I agree with you about the hieroglyphic style, though for some reson it reminded me more of the art that is commonly found on Greek pottery. Still I am looking to give the drawings more form to get that 3D feeling. It's possible that I should have done some of the shading by hand and not have done it all in the computer.
