Can anyone suggest some good SNES games?

Mine are definately Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy III, and Super Mario Bros.

If you like platformers, ActRaiser 2 is really gorgeous. Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball is a really fun 2-player game.

Super Mario Kart

It's going to be pretty hard to find most of these nowadays, though.

Actually, many of these games are becoming abandonware as we speak, that is, no longer supported by the authors and legally downloadable.

That's not true. Just calling something "abandonware" because it's no longer circulated or supported by its copyright holders doesn't mean that it's legal to download it. In order for something to truly be abandonware, the copyright holders have to renounce their right to the intellectual property and officially release it to the public domain. As far as I know, that hasn't happened with a single game that's been mentioned here.

I did a list of this somewhere else.

Okay, so it's not exactly the same (best vs. favorite), so I'll make a list here.

SMW1
SMW2: YI
SMW3:SMRPG: LotSS
LoZ: aLttP
SMet
SMK (Super Mario Kart, not any Mortal Kombat nonsense)
DKC
DKC2
FFV (SNES PLZ)
FFVI
CT
and probably some more I can't remember now

Honorable mentions:
Earthbound
DracXX
SCvIV
FFIV
and probably more that I can't remember now

By the way, why hasn't this been moved to General Gaming Chat yet?

One of the main reason ROMs are distributed is that the games are no longer available on a mainstream commercial basis. If SNES games were still in stores, I (and I'm sure many other people here would agree) would be very willing to go buy a hard copy. However, especially for rarer and/or more "classic" games (such as Mega Man X2 or Super Mario RPG), there are fewer of them going around, and the ones that are still floating around are slowly being gobbled up by collectors or broken, and I'd also feel bad to deprive a fellow gamer of a really great game in some cases.
