A group of CoN players have started to play Silkroad Online. We play on the official USA Silkroad Online server, Venice, and we want more CoN players!
If you are a bored college/high school/whatever student counting down the precious few days you have left of your summer vacation and love MMORPGs, come idle away the rest of your vacation with us by shooting scarecrow men with ice arrows. [/LIST]---What is Silkroad Online?--- Silkroad Online is a massively multiplayer online RPG. The interface looks and feels similar to World of Warcraft. Players do not pick character classes, but rather select from a huge list of "mastery" skill trees available to any player, which add weapon or magical proficiencies. The catch? Focusing on just two or three trees is necessary to become extremely powerful with one weapon/grade of magic, so character specialization is still evident and important. Guilds, party systems, free trade, quests, and PvP are all available and well implemented. Best of all, the official version of Silkroad Online is completely FREE! More info about Silkroad Online is available here. ---All right, I'll try it. Where do I go?--- Everything you need is available at www.silkroadonline.net The main installation file is about 500MB. Our CoN players use the Venice Server, and an account must be created from the Silkroad Registration Page. System requirements for the game are: Intel Pentium 3 800 MHz CPU 256 MB RAM 3D speed over GeForce2 graphics DirectX 9.0b Compatibility sound 3.0 GB free hard disk space and an Internet connection ---Tell us you're playing!--- Remember, post your character name in here to get in touch with us! The in-game communication window can be accessed by pushing 'U' Credit to ZeroHawk, by the way, for introducing us to this game in chat. seriously! join us and play! this game is insanely fun.
my in-game is Holidae. send me a message if you need some help figuring things out. mister Phoenix forgot to mention that the unofficial CoN server is the "Venice" server. though feel free to play anywhere else. also, be wary that the server crowding begins around 4:00 PM. so dont get too discouraged if you cant get on. EDIT: be sure to post your in-game name so we can add you to our friends list, and even the CoN guild we're trying to set up(feel free to help us out with the guild fund, btw. getting 500,000 gold takes quite a while on your own).\ EDIT2: this game can be quite taxing on your machine. with my moderately powerful machine, i still have to turn all the graphic power down to it's lowest levels. and even then it still lags a bit in heavily crowded cities. so...be warned. Interesting, those screen shots have convinced me that I should join. You might see e on sometime soon.

I fell off the RO bandwagon when the lags started getting bad on my system, but after fixing my computer issues, I decided, what the hell, why not?
Anyways, I'm downloading the program as we speak, once it's done, you can expect me to be online. I'm probably going to stick with my usual screen name of Javex. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |

dont let the graphic necessity throw you off, this REALLY is a great game. unlike most games of this type, once you've chosen a skill path, you aren't stuck on it forever. you wanna train your bow skills and then switch to spear? feel free to. you wont find yourself severely underpowered and getting killed. the only real problem is knowing where to train at each level. but we can help you with that.

My computer must suck because I downloaded and installed everything and it's still running slow and some letters aren't appearing. I must not've installed the other necessary things correctly.
*sigh*, I'll just find something else to waste my spare time with. ![]() -------------------- |

Screen shots look awesome, I didn't try Ragnorak, but I'm going to try this. This should fill the gap with Knights OnLine not working.

Remember to post usernames so we can get in touch with each other.
There's an in game "e-mail" system to send offline users messages (press U for the communication window, and go to the messagebox tab). Xfire is another good way to find out who's online. I'm not on any ungodly level yet, but let me know what your gender and armor type is, and I might have some spare equipment for you. This post has been edited by Phoenix on 23rd October 2019 04:41 |

Venice tends to be crowded at about 2-3pm EST. It's much easier to log on before or after this period, and if computer resources aren't an issue, you can always let the game idle if you plan to start playing again in a few hours.
Edit: Update - All posted character names are now included in this topic's first post. If you would like to be included in that list, simply post your character's name in the thread. This post has been edited by Phoenix on 19th August 2006 21:02 |

Okay, I did everything. I just need to get a video card since the screen is all jumbled with different colors flashing (even with everything put to lowest).

I gotta admit, I'm interested. I've always avoided MMORPGs because I've heard horror stories of people getting sucked into them and forgetting about real life. I had sort of an experience like that with AOE.
![]() Despite that, a friend just started me on World of Warcraft, and I was seriously thinking of buying the game, assuming I could still manage my time well. But I think I'll stick to playing at his house until I know for sure. But FREE? That's pretty enticing, especially considering the graphics look awesome. I'm strongly considering checking it out. Edit Seem to have some trouble accessing the web page. Can you play this on a Mac? This post has been edited by MetroidMorphBall on 5th September 2006 01:11 |

I've thought about, but with dial-up and an outdated grafics card i don't think it'll be too fun. Ofcourse i could always get highspeed and a new card but i just don't want it that badly.

I believe only a Windows client exists for the time being.
I've been gone from this a lot since about two weeks ago, since I've gotta be studying in high gear until November, but don't think I've abandoned it entirely. ![]() |

Is this game dial-up friendly?
Edit Well obviously getting the install file will be tough with dial-up, but I might be able to get that from a friend on disk. But what about the gameplay This post has been edited by Barrylocke on 27th November 2006 17:50 -------------------- |
