Maybe it's just me, but fighting pathetic battles over and over is rather annoying to get the Paladin. And although the wait is well worth it, fighting battles that were easy even at the start of the game just isn't an honourable way to earn it (cmon it's a PALADIN shield. Ya know, paladins, holy fighters, honour and all of that holy jargon).
So for me, I fight in tyranosaur/brachosaur when I decide it's time to break the curse. I still get decent exp, 3-5 and the outside chance 10 magic points per battle. Also, I don't bother with the ribbon and safety bit (after all, it wouldn't be honourable to cheat when obtaining this holy item). Just throw it on strago with a healing rod and I'm set. What do you do when breaking the curse? Just curious. -------------------- This is my world: (Got my second chapter up, 3rd Chapter about 80% complete) http://www3.sympatico.ca/daniel876/homepage.html |

Well, when I am gathering rages on the veldt, I usually throw the shield and a ribbon on some weak character like Gogo...although a few of the battles don't count (when Gau leaps and returns) I can't think of a better way to do it...sometimes I do it when fighting cactrots for MP though

Solitary Island for me, everything commits suicide over there. There is no resistance what so ever, that makes it is the perfect choice for me. Unfortuanatly, breaking the curse is still a time consuming, tedious task. If the benifit wasn't so great, I wouldn't even bother.
Quote Just a small note: Gogo can't uncurse the sheild, the only reason I know is that I was reading through Master Zed's White Sheet. Take a look at "Cursed Shld battle number check". I was using Gogo as an example because he is the only character that you can equip the shield to that can't equip espers, and is therefore the weakest character in the game. Yes I used Gogo sometimes, but thanks for that bit of information I didn't know, I must have fought extra battles >.< Bleh...

Nearly everywhere. I try to get the Cursed Shield as fast as possible and quickly equip it to increase the number of battles fought.

Generally in the city area of Narshe. I usually have Edgar, Sabin, and Cyan with me to wipe out the enemy quickly, and Locke with a Ribbon and the Cursed Shield.

The desert south of Maranda. I get to break the curse and learn magic at the same time there.

Solitary Island. I bring Locke with and stock Elixers while I do the uncursing.

Last time I played, I hung out in the area outside the Dragon Forest and maxed Shadow and Terra while I was at it.

Dont even bother. In fact each battle that Gogo has the Cursed Shield equipped it doesnt even move the uncurse counter. I know there are bunches of easier places to uncurse the Cursed Shield, but I always end up doing the same thing....Veldt Locke Steals, Strago learns Lores, Gau learns Rages, Terra/Celes play cleanup healing and attacking and sometimes Relm uses Control to pick up the occasional Lore. Plus it gives me the opportunity to further refine my Veldt formations list. Itll probably be another few years before that thing is done.... |

I get it early on and then equip it to my meat shield: Locke. He's just there to steal, anyways; might as well have the self-proclaimed "treasure hunter" take the worst beatings by also uncursing one of the best "treasures" in the game. Hyuk, hyuk. From there I just do everything normally and dispel it via the random battles to and fro.

I equip it as soon as I get it, then after I do all the quests and such I go to the forest of the "dragons." Level up, get magic points, and uncurse the shield (while gaining items that can be bet at the colleseum). I also bring it to where ever I am learning lores, rages (forgets if this is possible), or south of Maranda for more magic points.
