I finished playing through this game again yesterday and felt like starting a thread about it.
Has anybody else played this little-known Squaresoft gem? Really great game with 8 scenarios (the last becoming available after all scenarios are completed.) Great game, though I wasn't too fond of the battle system. Unfortunately, this game is easy as heck. I ended up running up to the last boss, unprepared, for the heck of it and beat it on my first try. The mammoth hidden-boss in Pogo's scenario wasa LOT harder.. Plenty of things to do in this game. Anyone found and beat the mammoth hidden boss in Pogo's scenario? Never killed any women in Oboromaru's scenario, or gotten 100 kills? Completed the Captain Square minigame in Cube's scenario? Or managed to set up all of the traps in Sunset's scenario? The only one I haven't pulled off was that last one, because I forgot to get the slingshot from the kid before the preparations had begun, so I was short one trap.. My only regret, other than the sub-par difficulty, is the length of the scenarios. You're starting to grow attached to your party then, womp!, it's the scenario's last boss. Too bad. :/ Cube's scenario rocked. Masaru's sucked. ![]() -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Live-a-Live is an awsome game, my favorite thing though is you actually get to play as the bad guy at the end if you want to, giveing it that one thing that all other games lack, and while it's not my favorite RPG it's definatly up there, and yes it is a little easier than I expected and the battle system leaves alot to be desired but still it's a great game, it gets 2 thumbs up from me

I've never even heard of it. I'll probably know the answers to these questions from Gamefaqs or Wikipedia by the time you see this, but it would help if you gave a little more info about the game...platform, when it was made, genre...

Quote I forgot to get the slingshot from the kid before the preparations had begun, so I was short one trap.. Damn that's what I've been missing Live a Live is a great game, I actually enjoyed the battle system, although I will agree it was too easy. I have beaten the mammoth in prehistory, the big fish in ninja, 100 kills, beat the whole crazy buch Quote My only regret, other than the sub-par difficulty, is the length of the scenarios. You're starting to grow attached to your party then, womp!, it's the scenario's last boss. Too bad. :/ Cube's scenario rocked. Masaru's sucked. Personally Pogo's was my favorite scenario, comical interesting. followed by the sunset kid. i wish square would remake this game instead of FFVI or VII(or even better yet, make a sequal), and lengthen each of the chapters. as for masaru, it was a great idea, but they really shold have expanded upon it, by far the shortest one. Storyline doesn't really hold any value. Sadly he is also pretty much the worst character to put in your party, sub-par in every category, and his techniques constantly miss. Best character I would have to say Sunset Kid, juice him up with intelligence boosting equipment and he can lay some waste(force shot dealing 400+ if you equip him right). lso his Hurricane shot was undeniably powerful, killing the Ariel bosses in one or two hits. I always like having cube in my group, although as I'm doin everyon'es dungeuns he'll be rotated out since he has no need for experience. other favored characters include Pogo, Oborom, and Lei. THe only character I truly despised was Orsted Possible spoilers: highlight to view While playing through the medieval chapter the first tmie it was pretty obvious Straybow was a much better damage dealing character, as well as Hash, Death Soul dealing 700+ damage to most enemies, sadly Straybow goes all Emo in the end of the chapter and Hash dies. Orsted's techniques were all rather useless, none of them really dealt substantial damage. Although the medieval chapter was very entertaining Something I haven't done is see all the dieing father scenes, supposively there is one in every chapter but I've only seen, Old West and Medieval. and something i've always wanted to try is to go back and not assail the fortress in the ninja scenario, supposivley you battle your own organization, but I've never tried it. To sum up this post Live A Live is a very entertaining game, that has higher replay value than most, and should be played by any gamer. -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

I have not played it myself. I have seen the Super Famicom cartridge at some point, but I figure there's no point in buying a game I can't read. Nevertheless, I do still like S.N.E.S. games, the 1990s was the golden era of Squaresoft R.P.Gs. and I saw this is getting a rerelease on the Nintendo Switch due out July 22nd. I am not sure if it's a full fledged remake like what Cloud was hoping for, but I suppose some of you might be interested in having a legitimate copy of the game on the go if nothing else.
Given that I have not played the game yet, I do not have much to say about it, but I figured I would at least check out what you folk had to say about it before deciding if it was worth checking out eventually myself. Also I might provide an Amacon affiliate link to this re-release as long as I am here, just in case anybody is interested in it, especially since I think this might be the first time it has actually been published in the west. At the very least, I think it is neat to see former regional exclusives finally getting more widespread releases. I hope Bahamut Lagoon gets one too, but that's another subject altogether. -------------------- |

Ooh.
It looks like a combination of pixel-art sprites for the characters and 3D graphics for the environments. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing.
