I know it sucks, and it's my first piece of Final Fantasy/Futurama crossover art. I plan to do more crossovers for other characters from Final Fantasy and cartoons.

Please be kind. And no comments saying, "Lol, learn to photoshop, n00b" please because 1. I know that's what I have to do and that's what I am and 2. I can't afford/install the trial version of Photoshop.

Thanks! -CSM

Whoa it's huge! Might wanna resize it.

Well for a first time I guess it's good, but his right (our left) boot is small and it seems alot of "stuff" is just sticking out.

But you are off to a good start, with a bit more practice it will get better.

I know, and that's the part I'm the most upset about. I ran out of room on the paper I drew him on. -CSM

Well...it's... alright-ish. You've got the stance and figure done well, but it looks kind of rushed. The head's shape is good, you just need to sort out one of the eyes, the'yre not on the same level.
The left (our left) foot is messed up and seems about an inch wide. It's very good for something done in Paint, but it needs work, such as giving outlines to features such as the lips and hands, even if it's only a thin black line. Also the left shoulder/arm needs to be fixed.
Also, the hair - Zapp Brannigan doesn't have a ponytail. Or are you crossing him over with Edgar? If so, I'd personally advise against it. I don't really see the point of a crossover fanart. Fanfiction I can understand, but fanart...meh, it's up to you, but I'm not a fan of it.

Yeah, I'm crossing him with Edgar. That's why he has a ponytail.

No offense, but what you're a fan of really doesn't have much bearing on the quality of the picture.

For my money, it's a clever idea. Did something similar to it myself actually </mindlessselfindulgence>. I do agree it's too big, so a resize is definitely in order. For the picture itself though, there's some strong perspective problems with it, the breatplate for exampe doesn't jive with the direction of the rest of the chest and it looks like that one boot is incomplete. I do like the bold colors and no outlines. Artistically, that's a pretty fresh style from the general 'anime fanart'.

All in all, I like it. thumbup.gif

Thanks for the input. I'll see what I can do. The only reason it's so big was because I scanned it. (I drew it by hand before coloring it in). I'm in the midst of resizing it now.

I didn't want it to be Anime style because Anime anything is so cliche, and I don't want to be cliche. Crossovers are not. When you see my future characters, they will not be anime style at all. They will be cheap cartoony crap, and that's the way I like it. -CSM

If Zap Brannigan were king, I believe the country of Figaro (or the country of "Brannigan") would end up being set back two thousand years or so, in regards to technology. I could only imagine the subterranial castle burrowing underground on its side... then exploding or somethin'. wink.gif

More to the point, it's certainly a good start for any kind of newly attempted topic of art. I do, like in previous responses, find his right boot to be a li'l on the oddly disproportioned side - shriveled, if you will. Zap's/Edgar's right arm, too, appears overly, well, fat towards the top and then thins out at the wrist more suddenly than necessary; similarily, that sleeve's coloration is a bit uneven with that of the left's plus the armor's right shoulder is off in perspective when compared to the opposite's. Finally, I'll echo NW's statement 'bout the breastplate contradicting the flow of the torso.

Gettin' to the positive critiques, the color selection is both excellent and neatly executed primarily due to the lack of outlining. Also, the Zap resemblance is rather accurate. As a fan of humorous and generally pointless crossovers, I'd personally like to see you do a blending of Final Fantasy/Futurama characters in a piece featuring a larger selection of the show's cast, but that's just me. Anyhoo, I'd like to think Zap would make an awful Edgar in most ways, but he really kinda fits in the royal dude's guise... strangely.

It's additionally good to know of someone else who strongly prefers alternative designs instead of the increasingly 'Net-traditional manga/anime style. smile.gif

And they would wear VERY small tunics' SO small that if you climb a ladder.......

I'd actually like to see more. I wonder what character will be next Bender and any Cid (needa tough additude!) Or maybe even Tellah and Professer!

Edit
FF IV one or VII, VII would match since they both smoke. But Bender is only 4 or 5 years old. biggrin.gif

Edit
Lol 444 posts looks funny.

I have a plan for most of the cast of Futurama, and the cast of other cartoons, to be in Final Fantasy garb. I will, however, tread very lightly around Final Fantasy X, since someone else did a GREAT job with FFX crossovers (and ALL of the characters used were from Futurama). However, there are some of his drawings I don't agree with (Fry as Tidus is an insult to both Fry AND Billy West (Fry's voice, and a voiceover god), and Leela as Yuna is an insult to Leela)

The reason I chose Zapp to be Edgar is via their personalities: very open and playful with women. Edgar seems to be the Final Fantasy equivalent of Zapp. I could also hear Billy West (who voices Zapp as well) playing Edgar.

Anyway, if you like it, I plan to do Fry as Locke next, which should probably be a bit easier, since Locke's design is a bit easier. -CSM

Edit: Dragon King: Which Cid are you talking about? There are currently eleven of them, including ones from Tactics. And I was thinking of the Professor more as a Galuf or a Strago because Tellah has too long a beard. Bender will be difficult, since someone already did a GREAT job doing Bender as Auron from FFX. I was thinking maybe Bender could be Cid from FFVII or FFX.
