I'm so torn on whether I want a new version of this game. I just no less than 2 weeks ago hooked my SNES back up so I could play it again. Now I'm wondering if it's worth doing a playthrough now or if I should hold out for the brand new version.

It'd probably be best to just play through it now.

I say play the original. It's not even coming in Japan until the end of the year.

I haven't heard anything about new spells, so I'd like to hear a source on that one.

The official Jap site is up: http://www.square-enix.co.jp/ff6/.

We've already seen how both Leviahtan's and Gilgamesh' sprite is ripped straight from FF V, which is kinda dissapointing.

There's new Amano art to accompany the new release.

Some bug have been fixed.

Bugs fixed as of now that i know of:

Vanish + doom

Bosses can't be vanished anymore, and the invisable enemy on the island in the WoB cannot be doomed though it is vanished.

Evade bug is now fixed.

Evade is actually evade, no reading M. Block for Evade now.

That's all for now.

Just in case someone didn't hear, FF6 Advance will have a revised translation with expanded dialogue--I read it in Nintendo Power a couple of weeks ago. That should be interesting.

Revised translation? You've got to be kidding me! I love Ted Woosley's translation because it's so.... unique. I've never played a game with such a weird translation, and all the greatest quotes have come from it. Sure it sounded like he had been up all night drinking or something, but that's the translation everyone has come to know and love. Boo Square.

I do plan on playing FFVIa sometime, though. Don't get me wrong, it sounds interesting and I'm kinda curious.

King Eddy, the way the magazine made it sound was like certain sparse parts of the script would be added to and small errors would be fixed. The article called Woolsey's translation "solid." At any rate, I read the article in a store so I don't have it in front of me, but the thrust of it wasn't "new translation."

Not saying Woolsey's script was bad or anything, but after playing this game over ten times it'd be nice to see a new translator's take on the script.

Five more days...

Small changes?

I've been saying this all along, but if Atma goes to Ultima, I'll cancel my preorder, wait for someone to make it playable in an emulator, and freaking re-translate it myself before I play it.

I'd guess you'd have to wait until someone dumps the rom then.

Sorry 'bout that. It was just that when I read your post, I immediately took it as "new translation". I'm all right if it's just fixed up a bit.
