If you watched all the dreams, you'll figure out that yes indeed he would. Well Squenix is known for leaving plot holes, but most people say that yes he is.
Quote Possible spoilers: highlight to view Two highway bandits named Baram and Clyde are captured after a huge train heist. Baram is left heavily injured (despite his pleading to Clyde to kill him), but Clyde finds his way to Thamasa, where he falls in love with a local woman. Overcome with remorse, Clyde eventually loses all emotion and becomes a wandering mercenary, calling himself Shadow. His wife later gives birth to a daughter she calls Relm. If I'm not mistaken the dream that solidifies the connection is only shown if you leave shadow on the Floating Continent?

Quote If I'm not mistaken the dream that solidifies the connection is only shown if you let shadow die on the Floating Continent? to see all the dreams you do have to play a game without Shadow in WoR (yes that means leave him on the floating continent.) I remember shadow's dreams alone being reasoning enough for me, but a lot of people like seeing Relm's. -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

The Memento ring also can be worn only by Relm and Shadow. ("departed mom's love protects against fatal attacks...")

Plot wise we can see that:
Interceptor likes Relm when normally he's very hostile to strangers Shadow (Clyde) was found by a woman in Thamasa after fleeing from Baram and it can be inferred that they could have had a relationship Looking at Relm's dream, I believe it makes it clear that Relm's father left her at an early age, although I'm not 100% sure that the dream says who her father is at all. The Momento Rings can be equipped on both Shadow AND Relm. In addition, Relm takes Shadow's spot in WoR if you leave Shadow on the Continent. Also, I do believe that the reason for Shadow's change during the Floating Continent was a desire to protect his daughter from the destruction of the world, as well as feeling ashamed for selling his services to them. Finally, Shadow saves Relm from the fire while the house burns down, quite out of character for a sellsword who "slit his mama's throat for a nickle". Shadow is one of my favorite characters in FF6 because of how dynamic he is in comparison to the much flatter characters of Celes and Locke, who really don't undergo much of a moral change through out the entire story. So basically the Relm-Shadow Relationship is only implied, making for yet another great plot background for the wonderful world of Final Fantasy 6. -------------------- "A little tight, but the price was right" - Locke "Oh, what a Fuddy Duddy" - Relm "..." - Shadow "I'm a General, not some love starved twit" - Celes "Although Edgar showers his attention on the ladies, most are smart enough to pay him no attention. Oh! King Edgar!" - Figaro Castle Inn Attendant |
